They willingly decided to broadcast such a very much graphic story and knew who (which body) is involved from the story of the "victim" herself. They have never told us what they have tried to cross-check the story of a single individual from different perspectives. To try and fail is a different story, but they have never raised anything in this direction. Simply broadcast graphic stories and join-in the emotional scene of helping the "victim" in shedding her tears. What a lose! You should have learned what a professionalism means......
You got the principle of journalism twisted. You do cross-check facts when you do the reporting.
When victims testify the wrongs they suffered at the hand(s) of their abusers, you do not question their stories. You do not verify it. You do not editorialize it. You simply allow the victim tell their stories.
It's upto the perpetrators of abuse to come forward and refute the allegations.
If it is a crime, the police have the obligation to investigate the crime that has become now public. If the police investigated the alleged crime and found it was false, only then could you be able to state the story was false.
Staged? It's a long call! It means the media conspired with the false witness to claim victimhood they did not suffer.
But it could simply be the case that the individual lied without being encouraged or incentified to lie.
