Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
Abiy Ahmed told members of the House of the Peoples Representatives today "Access to the Red Sea (Eriis an existential matter for Ethiopia." The question was about Eritrea and he meant Eritrea as well. What does he mean when he says "Access to the Red Sea is an existential matter for Ethiopia"? Do you believe that Abiy Ahmed is telling the truth, and that Ethiopia has any legal basis to claim any right to access the land or ports in Eritrea?

Re: Abiy: Access to the Eritrea's Red Sea is an existential matter for Ethiopia
Q: Access to the Red Sea is an existential matter for Ethiopia"?
A: 100% correct, Red Sea is an existential matter to Ethiopia. If Red Sea is not for Ethiopia, who else in hell is it for?
Q: Do you believe that Abiy Ahmed is telling the truth
A: He will not wage war against Shabia, friend of OLF. He is just making a drama in search of an excuse for his defeat in Amhara region - He promised his Orommuma congress he would disarm Amhara in 3 days and celebrate with TPLF
Q) Ethiopia has any legal basis to claim any right to access the land or ports in Eritrea?
A: Yes, Ethiopia has legal, moral and rational ground for her claim. This case alone will undoubtedly force the UN to look itself in in the mirror and revise its colonial elements or archaic norms. Ethiopia has every right to ignore the UN as long as it is bizarrely unfair

What's the matter with you people?
How difficult is it to understand the difference between the terms: access and ownership?
There're multiple ports Ethiopia can have access to like it has with Djibouti port today, but saying Ethiopia has a HISTORICAL right for port ownership are two very different things.

Hey dummy, My Eritrea never denied ethiopia access 2 z sea. What part of this statement don't you all don't understand? Access to sea doesn't mean ownership to port or sea!!!Yakume wrote: ↑20 Mar 2025, 10:57Abiy Ahmed told members of the House of the Peoples Representatives today "Access to the Red Sea (Eriis an existential matter for Ethiopia." Eritrea
If the government in Addis Ababa seeks to use them under a mutually beneficial commercial agreement that respects the sovereignty of both nations, it can do so without any obstacles today.
However, it was Ethiopia—under the TPLF—that chose to boycott Eritrean ports for two decades, believing that economic isolation would bring Eritrea to its knees. In the end, it was that very zero-sum mentality that led to the downfall of TPLF, which once looked mighty to fall.
Today, the real issue is that, much like his predecessor, the Prime Minister has chosen to pursue an outdated imperialistic policy of illegal land grabs instead of fostering regional cooperation and economic partnerships—all in an attempt to mask his own failures. It failed in Somaliland, and it will fail every time.
The dishonest narratives pushed by the army of social media operatives recruited by Abiy’s Prosperity Party—trying to distort the conversation around seaport access—do a great disservice to Ethiopians. These distractions shift attention away from the real cause of Ethiopia’s economic struggles.
To reiterate, Eritrea has never denied Ethiopia access to its ports. Ethiopia, like any other nation, can use Eritrean or neighboring ports through fair, mutually beneficial agreements that respect the sovereignty of all involved nations.

The UAE created a division in the Sudan by arming and financing the Rapid Support Forces fighting to topple the government. In Ethiopia, the UAE is arming and financing the government to create division in the country. Sudan may survive UAE's meddling, but I'm not sure about Ethiopia.
Re: Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
By reading between the lines and thinking critically, Abiy Ahmed's words go beyond what ordinary people think.
1. There is a difference between "access to Red Sea ports" and "ownership of ports and land in the Red Sea," and it is the latter definition that is intended, not the first. This implies Eritrea's annexation to Ethiopia now or later.
2. Abiy Ahmed knows well that Ethiopia will no longer exist, and he is making great efforts to achieve an alternative (the Oromummaa State) with its boundary from Kenya and Sudan to Eritrea, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
3. Yes, at the Oromo conference, he promised to disarm the Amhara within three days and celebrate with the TPLF, but the result was failure. He recently told his supporters that he would celebrate the Fasika fasting in Assab, but I don't think he will be able to do that in a few weeks.
4. Eritrea's Red Sea ports belong to Eritrea, not Ethiopia. Eritrea has never denied Ethiopia access to its ports, but Ethiopia is the one refusing. If Ethiopia wants to use Assab and other Eritrean ports, it must go through UN protocols and conventions regarding access to other countries' ports.
5. Ethiopia has no legal or historical rights, and no logic, to claim Eritrea or Eritrean ports in the Red Sea, but it can ignore UN protocols and conventions, and will be responsible for the consequences.
6. If the International Community wants to stop the imminent Ethiopian invasion of Eritrea, it should speak to the UAE leaders and tell them to stop their madness and dreams of using Ethiopia to destabilize peace and disrupt trade in the Red Sea.

Do not rule out Egypt, Shabia's mother
True, it is about ownership and becoming the glorious Red Sea Nation. Ethiopia has vast options to access sea if it were about this . Ethiopia wants to bang the tiny province and take away the Assab stolen from her.
3. Yes, at the Oromo conference, he promised to disarm the Amhara within three days and celebrate with the TPLF, but the result was failure. He recently told his supporters that he would celebrate the Fasika fasting in Assab, but I don't think he will be able to do that in a few weeks. I think it is for Irrecha, not Fasika. Debrezeit lake is to small for big Irrecha celebration. Also, under Oddu tree bu.tter would be held in Aba Barentu![]()

Not true, Ethiopia has more than sufficient grounds to re-claim Assab. There is less for Ethiopia to lose by taking over Assab. In a century where even the so called developed countries (leaders of the UN , sole owner of Vetoe power) are aspiring to expand their territory, Ethiopia which was stolen by ganged -up thugs has every reason to go a head and free Assab
6. If the International Community wants to stop the imminent Ethiopian invasion of Eritrea, it should speak to the UAE leaders and tell them to stop their madness and dreams of using Ethiopia to destabilize peace and disrupt trade in the Red Sea.. I think Eritrea should be advised to evacuate from Assab, be told Shabia is an illegal occupier.
Re: Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
Your answers are not based on logic, UN protocols and conventions, you did not answer a single question, and you are defending the Oromo plans to invade neighbouring countries and annex their lands to their region, which is clearly insane.
1. Blaming others (Egypt, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti), and also relying on the protection of others (Britain, Orthodox Church, Russia, China, UAE, Turkey, Cuba, France, Azerbaijan, North Korea), will never solve your problems. As always, Ethiopian leaders mislead their own people and the international community. Eritrea has never denied Ethiopia access to its Ports.
2. It was in 2023, and Shimelis Abdisa is the one who said “next year we will celebrate IRREECHA in the Red Sea (Eritrea) and the Indian Ocean (Somalia)”.Abiy recently told his supporters that he would celebrate the Fasika fasting in Assab. In the past two years, many Oromo officials have repeated the same claims, but they have failed to reach either the Red Sea or the Indian Ocean.
3. What legal basis does Ethiopia have to claim others land (Eritrea and its ports)? Abiy Ahmed cannot control his own tribal region. How do you dream of invading other countries? Do you believe you will win, or is this just an illusion for local consumption?
4. Ethiopia was established by Britain through the illegal agreements including the Britain -Abyssinian Treaties in 1897, 1900 and 1908 about Sudan, Eritrea and Tigray, and also Britain – Abyssinian treaties in 1942 and 1955 about the Ogaden region, as well as the treaties with Italy about Eritrea and Red Sea Afars. If Ethiopia does not respect UN protocols and conventions, Ethiopia will collapse and the Oromo, Ogaden, and Tigray peoples will have their own states. Therefore, the Oromo border will be in West Shewa.
5. Either way (war on Eritrea) or the other way (negotiations with Eritrea), Ethiopia will lose!

___ Ethiopia is not asking access. Ethiopia reclaiming ownership of Assab. There is both historical and legal basis for that. Simple logic, if Italy were colonizer of Eritrea and Eritreans also believed colonized by Ethiopia, Ethiopian rules overwrites Italian rule. All Italian cr@p is null and void. But, Ethiopia has a much more valid and robust reason.
2. ___ Shimelis spoke from his Orommuma perspective as you are speaking from your own Shabia perspective. The question of Assab was older than his statement. Many known Ethiopian figures and politicians voiced about it and warned its consequence for Eritrea and Ethiopia as well. You should also consider this, everything needs time and it is not an over night project. You saw the consequence of hasty choice- Shabia conducted sham referendum - it now locked eternal like destitution and war. Do not beg for the hurricane to happen right away.
3. What legal basis does Ethiopia have to claim others land (Eritrea and its ports)? Abiy Ahmed cannot control his own tribal region. How do you dream of invading other countries? Do you believe you will win, or is this just an illusion for local consumption?
____ Leaving aside Abiy Ahmed, whether he invades Eritrea now or not. Yes, Ethiopia has much more legal, rational and contextual basis to re-claim Assab. Besides, who ever wins the battle writes the rules. Nothing is fixed. Assab will return to its home, sweet home Ethiopia የማያድሩበትን ቤት አያመሹበትም ሻዕብያዎች አሰብን ለቃችሁ ብትወጡ ይሻላል።

__ Again,ሌላው ኤርትራዊ ቡርቃ እየሆንክ ነው. Ethiopia had been a country long before Britain itself became a country. It is like a duaghter teaching her mother how to labor ልጅ ለእናቷ ምጥ አስተማረች አይነት. Typical inferiority complex resulting from Ascari disease.
5. Either way (war on Eritrea) or the other way (negotiations with Eritrea), Ethiopia will lose!
___You cannot tell the result until the outcome is decided in the battlefield. The kind of talk you talked is common war propaganda often coming fear of the enemy.
Re: Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
I am very sorry that the current Ethiopian leaders are graduating generations of extremists and narrow-minded Oromo children, who are at war with themselves and also with the world.
1. Ethiopia is not asking access to Assab, but ownership: Both Ethiopia and Italy occupied Eritrea. Italy realized the situation and quickly withdrew, while Ethiopian officials, because they are stupid, still dream of colonizing Eritrea, despite having lost 30 years earlier to keep Eritrea under occupation.
2. Ethiopia was a country before Britain was a country: This is another myth and cheap propaganda repeated by Oromo extremists without understanding the context. Ethiopia was not a country before 1890 or 1916. Before Menelik, there was no land or country called Ethiopia, but rather two warring Abyssinian tribes (Amhara and Tigray) in the highlands of present-day Ethiopia. Abyssinia is different from present-day Ethiopia, as it (Abyssinia) was administratively under Puntland (now Somalia) and religiously under Egypt (Church of Alexandria until 1945).
3. Ethiopia will not win: This is not a personal opinion, but truth and hard facts from the past, and in either way (the war on Eritrea or negotiations with Eritrea), Ethiopia will not win, but will lose!
4. Old habits die hard: Blaming others and invading others is not a solution to your leadership failure. Therefore, think like other people of the country and clean your house, don't bite the hand that feeds you, and respect your neighbours.
5. Eritrea has never denied Ethiopia access to its ports. Unfortunately, Ethiopian leaders from Tigray and Oromo tribes have consistently acted out of hostility, rather than national and regional interest. So what the current Ethiopian elders (Oromo politicians) want is not to use the ports (similar to other 43 landlocked countries in the world), but to expand their boundary to other countries and regions to disturb peace and trade in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

You are singing the same lyric again and again, without sound reasoning. The shortest reply, Pack up and leave Assab before the firestorm - your arse will never be allowed there in the years a head.

Re: Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
The majority of the Tigrayan people and Generals support Dr Debretsion group, not Getachew group or IRAT (The Interim Regional Administration of Tigray). There is also a third group that advocates for the Tigrayan people (unity of the Tigray people in Ethiopia and Eritrea).Given the current deteriorating situation in the country, which is due to the failure of the Oromo to lead the country, Ethiopians (especially the Amharas and Somalis) should determine the future of the country and decide for Tigray and Oromo peoples. This is the only option that would avoid war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, and also between Ethiopia and other neighboring countries (Kenya, Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti) in the Horn of Africa region.
Re: Abiy: Access to the Red Sea (ERITREA) is an existential matter for Ethiopia
This is called typical hallucination. Simply, your ትግራይ-ትግርኝ failed irreparably does not mean others have to follow that path of failure.
Ethiopians have an everlasting unity, rain or shine. Good days are a head of us coming, once Assab is restored and Shabia gone like Woyane. Shabia + Woyane combined are nothing for Ethiopians. They are lighter than the dust on a nail for Ethiopians. We are living in a different time - the Derg La'me Bo'ra time is gone

You better start a gofundme!
