Abiy lost his base when the people discovered that he's a phony banda. The social unrest will continue until he's removed from power and flees the country.

Once upon a time, Tripoli, Libya, was a very beautiful city. Colonel Gaddafi, too, was a power-hungry leader who ruled with great control. However, today, neither the beauty of Tripoli nor the grandeur of the Colonel remains.
This history teaches us that what truly matters is sustainable and reliable peace, not just flashy streetlights. Building for the next generation should not be about believing one's own lies and engaging in futile illusions. Instead, it should be about creating a peaceful nation where children, like the 'Simbu Birhanu' [the 8 year-old girl who was recently gang raped and killed in Oromia region], can learn and grow in freedom. A heart that understands this truth will always choose wisely!
— Taye Dendea
Taye Dendea, an outspoken critic of PM Abiy Ahmed, served as Ethiopia’s State Minister of Peace until his arrest in December 2023. He was jailed after condemning Abiy as a bloodthirsty dictator.
Today, he has once again spoken out against Ethiopia’s increasingly authoritarian leadership, criticizing Abiy for his failure to bring peace and stability to the country. He likened Abiy’s rule to that of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya, who was unable to unite his people and ultimately led his nation to destruction.

I hate to sound like a prophet of gloom and doom, but can you imagine the UN deciding Ethiopia's fate, with UN member states voting to whether partitioning the country or allowing a peaceful dissolution for the sake of international peace?

Banda Abiy took a page out of TPLF's playbook by using diversionary tactics to distract the Ethiopian people away from their own pressing issues by feeding them propaganda so they may only focus on fabricated stories about Eritrea. This in turn has led the propaganda-fed people to develop a false sense of security, totally oblivious to the impending collapse of the empire heading towards imminent disintegration. You can't say we didn't tell you so!

Its all our fault. We deserve everything we brought upon ourselves.
