Should Eritrea try to save our Southern cousins from dis-integration? I am struggling with this question. It would be a huge tragedy if this ancient land was to descend into chaos. I wouldn't mind if the disintegration was smooth and peaceful. But it is not going to be that. The evil Agames made sure of that when they infected the country with their ethnic poison. Every border in the ethnically delineated map is disputed between the neighbours, disputes that will keep Ethiopians fighting one another for the rest of the century.

The Respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peaceful coexistence is the cornerstone of Eritrea's foreign policy. When we Eritreans say we would like to see a united and stable Ethiopia, it is to affirm our long standing commitment to help Ethiopia be part of the solution, not the problem.
Sadly, it is Ethiopians themselves who are destroying their own country because the concept of nationhood has eluded them for over half of a century, when the country transitioned from Feudalism to Communism, and then to Ethnic Federalism, otherwise known as Ethnic Balkanization, that sealed its fate with the choices its leaders made. You cannot save a country that doesn't want to be saved.

I think we can stop the mass migration of Tegaru by offering them employment opportunities in farm related jobs in Eritrea. The remittance Tegaru migrants send home to Tigray can be a significant contributor to the economic development of their Kilil.

It's hard to say we have a country when tribal allegiance has taken center stage in our political discourse.
The tribalism that the Tigray institutionalized by a constitutional order has spread across the country like a deadly communicable disease infecting anyone that had come in contact with them.
The mass migration of Tigray youth is nothing new, it's just that they now started accepting the ugly reality which they have been fiercely denying for over two decades because it didn't fit the narrative they were pushing against Eritreans. Lies have short legs.
