The commander-in-chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), son of President Museveni, yesterday posted on the X platform reckless and irresponsible comments, threatening to seize Khartoum, as soon as US President-elect Donald Trump-elect takes office.
This anomalous precedent embodies an unfortunate disregard for international law, the customs of dealing between States and the requirements of mutual respect between neighbors and friendly peoples, as well as bringing completely contra to the rules of conduct of the occupants of official and military positions of prudence, discipline and selection of words.
The threat of war, the violation of the sovereignty of States and the defiance of the Charter of the United Nations, the African Union and the rules of international law are too dangerous to be the subject of tampering, the search for lights and surprise.
The Government of Sudan requests an official apology from the Ugandan Government for these offensive and dangerous comments, and calls on the African Union and regional and international organizations to condemn these statements, which clearly threaten regional and international security and offend Africans.
