What are Addis Ababa people expected to do??

Post by Tiago » 24 Oct 2024, 19:32

The Ethiopian News and social media are awash with guest politicians, journalists, economists and others blaming the people of Addis Ababa taking eviction and demolition against their rights lying down hence giving the oromo lunatics free run.

Yes,in other parts of the continent such actions result in massive uprising and possibly removal of their leaders.
But blaming the Addis Ababa people continues without any hint of what the people should embark on.
None of these professors of political science and economics suggest non-violent actions other than implying some sort of armed revolt.

Only few suggested the potent power of strike, boycotting public transport, closing down shops, work, schools, etc
In fact ,some think these are lame ideas and preferring to hold futile protest rallies outside government offices in the developed world.

The Ethiopian news and social media must address this topic and convince the public to take actions of these sort nation wide to bring about change.

They're expected to chew chat, drink beer as usual and appreciate the corridor destruction. Also enjoy the street lights at night rather than stay in their dark homes.

And one thing I almost forgot, sell their homes at dirt cheap price to the diaspora who are still willing to invest there.

Most governments in the world including in many developed nations in the west would never do a "corridor development" let alone destroy old houses.

The Abiy administration has taken a bold path to destroy the slums of Addis Ababa and relocate the residents to apartments on the outskirts of the city.

The cost of renovating Addis Ababa is likely in the billions this is likely financed by the tax payed in Addis . You can research how much tax is payed in Addis and tell me how Abiy is able to finance such large demolition
