Kocho production processes and storage can be improved if given the attention it deserves.
1. Wood frame can be crafted so that switching from sitting to standing will be easier while scraping the Gupa or layer of the enset.
2. Qyesra=the scrapped layer can be dried on a tarp or a sheet of cardboard or thin sheet of metal
3. The liquid that comes out of the gupa while being scrapped can be collected on wooden trouph or a specially made wood or metal channel. Will be allowed to dry and thicken, which then is called atmet or Bulla in Amharic.
Enset is a well-studued plant by the UN and American Association for the Advancement of Science.
It can withstand a prolonged drought upto 4 years in a raw. The scientists described it as a "Plant against Hunger". They proposed to Meles Zenawi to declare Enset/ Kocho an Ethippian national diet so as to get funding for its studies to improve its genes to fight enset diseases and so that other Ethiopians will be plant abd adaot to using kocho as food. To protect them from hunger brought on by drought, lack or shortage of rain. He refused. Rather he invested Eth$2billion on cactus.
Enset grows in Amara as a wild plant. Locals don't know it's food rich in starch=carbohydrate.
