Had the Weyanes chose pure dictatorship back in 1991, perhaps they still would be around in power in Minilik palace. Ethnic Federalsm grants regional and local groups militarization based on ethnicity. In the long run that may pave away for disintegration through violence. The absence of local military groups paves the way to dictatorship that perhaps favors a single group based on regional elitism and perpetuates the concentration of power within a single ethnicity. Really, what is best for Ethiopia in the long run ?

Re: Ethnic Federalism vs outright dictatorship
Totally against the principle of self-determination of nations. I guess you wrote the wikipedia and quoted yourself.Dark Energy wrote: ↑08 Sep 2024, 10:38https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_nationalism

The principle of self-determination of nations is enshrined in UN Charter for Decolonization. It applies to Ethiopian nations conquered and colonized to form the colonial state of Ethiopia. This concept has been debated and debated in decades going back to the 1960s. Some rose up arms, went to jungles and mountains and valleys and sacrificed their futures and their lives for the decolonization of Ethiopia.
In the modern view of a state, should respect the principle of self-determination, to make absolutely that that no nation is held in bondage without its will. It should be allowed to consent in a referendum to be in a legal contract to form the Ethiopian State. The contract should include a clause to annul the contract when Ethiopia fails to honor the contract as judged by reasonable and just members of society. The idea of nations and their rights to form a government of their choice is ubdebatable now. Its an entrenched philosophy in Ethiopian political culture. You can't drive back on it without biblical portion of tragedies.
Regional police is about self-policing. Same as judges from that nation. Part of the decolinization of Ethiopia. It falls under tge jurisdication of the self-governing nation. Citizens should serve police servuces in their languages. Its not a national army. It may not be calked to fight in an Ethiopian war.
