We're not fighting to swap out one tyrant for another.(ነጻነትን የማያው ነጻ አውጪ)
Fano is steadily growing in strength each day. With over seven leaders spread across Amhara, they are successfully defeating the invaders. The organization has now grown significantly and is in need of a single leader, perhaps one leader to lead the entire Fano. Despite this, the leaked audio and the drama surrounding Fano have raised concerns about its future. It is evident that the government is facing losses, and eventually, the Amhara region will be liberated. However, confronting Abiy and the entire PP party will not be an easy task. It is not because they have a strong army or courageous fighters, but because they are prepared to turn this into a war between Amhara and Oromo. A strong political party is required to support Fano's struggle on the ground. We must have a plan B for every situation.
I felt let down upon learning about the outcome of the Fano election. Despite all Fano leaders being present and six of them voting for Eskinder, Gojjam's Zemen seems to be struggling to accept the result. When did he become so conceited that he would prioritize his own power over the interests of the people? We cannot afford to engage in these unethical political maneuvers. Our people are enduring hardship and require assistance. We must make their needs our top priority.

I heard Eskindir may take FANO the Balderas way.
Zemene kassaye and others are not against FANO being under one leader, but are stressing to put forward candidates with experience other than media exposure .
of course, diaspora textbook Doctors and mad professors are firmly kept out.
Others want the status quo to remain as FANO has to deal with multiple enemies.so far the arrangements is working nicely.(If ain't broke why fix it)
As to who will be replacing Abiy is not the concern of most people,as long as TPLF and OLF ethnic politics are buried once and for all.

The enemy is strategically buying time and slowly weakening Fano. The government's current state of weakness allows them to play a deceptive peace game while they train more troops. Instead of launching an attack on their military camp, Fano is preoccupied with this election process. The people are growing increasingly frustrated, especially since there is no political party supporting military action at the moment.
In contrast, OLA is in a more favorable position than Fano, as they have a political party capable of negotiating and making demands while engaging in combat. The lack of political knowledge among Fano's leaders is evident, and the desire to elect someone more competent is apparent. Zemen, in particular, lacks a basic understanding of politics.
It appears that there is a lack of understanding regarding the suffering of the people in the midst of this war. If Fano fails to completely defeat Endf, it could lead to a loss of hope and the downfall of Fano. The current system is ineffective as the enemy still remains in our land, causing continued suffering for our people.

Tefera Mamo should lead Fano
I think all Amharas and Fano Leaders can trust Tefera Mamo to become the Leader of Fano even more than Eskinder.

MInilik,
Your concern is well grounded and understandable. But you have to look at the struggle or the campaign to bring change in Ethiopia objectively.
1. This campaign was born last year. There is no short fix as it will take time. With the help of the US It took the TPLF 17 years to accomplish its goal. Internal disagreements are part of the process, let them evolve through it. Those who are barking for a quick fix are the enemy of Ethiopia.
2. We have insisted from the beginning for FANO to have a political wing that will look after political matters with a clear voice, inside Ethiopia but not from outside. We have also warned for FANO to have a minimum contact with Diaspora would be Fano supporters-leaders-fund raisers bla bla. If the Diaspora wants to help FANO let them do it on their own independently and unconditionally without any covert influence. The political wing also should be given the mandate to look after administration, legal matters etc in areas where Fano is in control. It may also includes areas like research and drafting constitution.
3. We have to be careful on leaders like Zemene Kase, Mere Wodajo and Mekonent, DEMEKE Zewedu who are bleeding on the ground and the battlefront. They are very sensitive to the fact that someone decides on their behalf abroad while they are fighting the enemy on the ground. Obviously these commanders have only the basic understanding of politics. They should be helped to understand the end goal and their role in the future.
In conclusion, the news that all FANO leaders meet to discuss the idea of central command is encouraging. It is a sign of political maturity. Eskio has to be careful handling such delicate matters. Specially now the Generals are joining and they would want to be in charge. I hope other skilled people and experts on this kind of operation will join to help FANO evolve.

Eskinder cannot be the leader. He was s not a leader material. We have seen him leading Balderas where Tigre and Oromo elements easily infiltrated and rendered balderas a useless party.
Eskinder showed similar tendencies even now when he gagged and added elements that are anti-amhara in his rank and file. They guy is too trusty and still in the old ideology of Gonbot-7, EPRP or Ezema.
Zemene is capable of leading so does Asegid. The core of these Fano groups is keeping Tigre and Oromo elements away from the Amhara journey to secure it's fair share of the country. Plus Eskinder doesn't have a formidable Fano following. Almost the entire Gimbote now sees an opportunity through Eskinder and bringing Eskinder to command FANO means identical to allowing Birhanu Nega and Andargachew be leaders of Amhara FANO.

Brother Misraq,
I am not sure about Eskinder as a leader as I don’t know him. He seems to be a principled guy. Let them figure it out to sort out the right leadership. Zemene is an Amhara and Ethiopian at heart but I don’t think he has the necessary skills to be a political leader.
The best will be each leader of the region to be in charge of the region. And send a limited number of delegates to the Amharas congress to be created with a voting and decision making power. Don’t rush creating a central command. First research and study how it should be structured with the help of experts and then debate it.
After what we witnessed during Kinijit and G7, it is obvious what the likes of BERHANU Nega,Andy Tsigie, Yaed Tibebu etc.are up to. They just step on the back of genuine Ethiopians to get to power and gain access to monetary. like Zemene knows it very well and that is why they are sensitive.

Right
We shouldn't measure ourselves against minorities like tplf, they have their own path and we have ours. We need to strive to be the best. Our forefathers built a nation and successfully fought off colonizers, which amazed the world. That should be our goal. We could have achieved much more than just winning a single battle. We could have won the war by now. It's not too late, we can make things right and move forward.
Misraq
Eskinder is simply a political figure, lacking real power. The true power is held by the Fano commanders. He was elected to organize Fano and hold the government accountable. They claim Fano lacks organization to negotiate, using that as an excuse to commit atrocities across the Amhara region. Now, let's discuss - we want government troops to leave the Amhara region so we can govern our own land. Eskinder isn't the ultimate leader, just more experienced than the others. He knows how to access international communities with better communication skills.
Zemen has already made numerous mistakes. We can't afford someone who can't control himself right now. Plus, Gonder's Fano doesn't like Zemen. They still accuse him of killing the former Amhara president. The best choice is Eskinder under close supervision.

It is a trademark of the Ethiopianists to be fooled continuously. You two (Menilik and Right) are influenced by the Ethiopianists medias. Peraphs their only strength is breaking news and making people jump until the dissapointment comes in a fort night.
Both of you said "Eskendir is experienced" this is joke of the century. Eskendir is a journalist. He has zero experience in politics. He created three political organizations in just two year and all failed. This attempt is his last. He will be out like both Birhanu Nega and Andargachew Tsige.
The other fact that you will need to know is the Amhara people won't accept Ethiopianist to lead them. It is simply unacceptable for Amhara to go through a political system that had failed. The "Ethiopia Unity" project is a failed project. for 60 years it recieved challenges from Beher-Behereseboch (except from amhara) and it failed miserably. Eskinder is a carrier of that dead and weak ideology in the current very turbulent Ethnic politics. The answer to that is Amhara nationalism. this nationalism created a resistance and capable leaders like Zemene who went all the way to his Masters degree in his education and also managed to create a formidable resistance in Gojjam. Eskinder had a max 150 soldiers and most of them bought by $$$$. So eskinder is neither smart, nor leader material. He is a journalist with three failed political organizations in a mere 2 years.
Now listen to Gojjam Ez military leader (Zinabu) had to say. Misraq Amara fano leader Mere Wadajo had issued similar statement and we are expecting similar statement from Shoa fano leader Asegid. Just because Ethiopianist former Ginbote medias break such tricky and mischieveous news, you two fall for it. You danced for Abiy in a haste in a similar fashion and it is sad that you won't learn from your mistakes

The question is:
___ Should Fano be a under a unified command center. What are the Pros and Cons?
___ Is it about power grabbing for personal end goal or protecting the People/country from evil OLF and TPLF?
___ What are the basis for doubting Eskindir Nega, if elected to be the leader? Alleging he is an Ethiopianist is not a good enough reason. Of course, he should be! This is unique davanatge where OLF/TPL are devoid of this. This does not mean, it contradicts Amhara people's fight. Neither accusing of Ghinbot 7. I do not know much about him, but I do not think he is Not Gibot 7. Neither pretending he has no military experience, unless people want a military dictator like Mengistu or Colonel Abiy Ahmed. The question is can he be a good political figure/image at home and abroad? Does he have credibility nationally?
___ Why did Abiy Ahmed scared off Eskindir Nega early on? Did he see something unique that would threaten his power? Why was BE'ADEN dismantled from Amhara Region, following Eskindir Nega's joining of Fano?
**** In my opinion, Fano does not need a unified command center, but needs a unified mission and purpose. If everything put in one basket, Orommuma would love that.
**** I pray for Eskindir Nega, may Almighty God protect him and help him see his dream.
***** I Pray for the rest of Fano military leaders, May God protect them and help them achieve to see an Ethiopia free of OLF, Woyane and without ethnic region
**** Amhara should stand together, there is enough role for everyone of you in bringing the dream of the people into a reality. The crying soul of Ansha Seid slaughtered by Orommuma in Wolega while begging mercy is more important than this. Haggle it out and do not let rats running amidst of you. It is enemies talk to rush trashing those selfless fighters and those who dare spending their precious time of their life in prison. But those of you who never been close to either to battlefield or the perimeter of a prison house, causing dust is surprising. Those who got the gut to trash Eskidnir must be TPLF moles - at least you should have taken time to gather information and digest. Why so hasty? Build the evidence and communicate the audience so that people will lend you ears, otherwise you are trashing yourself. You could be very well a mole of Woyane, OLF or Shabia.

That is not Fano's prayer. That is Ethiopianists prayer. Fano accept it is not their business to tell Oromos and Tigrayans which parties should lead them, just like Oromos and Tigrayans cannot tell the Amhara people which party should lead them ( Amhara PP or Fano).
Abere, you are Ethiopianist. What will you do to Fano, if Fano says, "I am not for Ethiopianist forces. I am fighting for Amhara causes. I will represent Amhara in future dialogues with other Ethiopians."? Will you join forces with PP and fight against Fano?

Brother Misraq,
Understandably you are frustrated and angry. The Amharas have been a victim of every would be leader or groups that emerges in the Ethiopian landscape. They have been called the oppressors, colonizers, exploiters, religious extremists etc. none of them are true. Regardless from EPRP, Derg,TPLF, OLF and now PP used them as a means to an end (political power).
Having said the above, I have difficulties to understand what your’s or other Amhara nationalists end goal is.
As long Ethiopia exists, unless we change it, there always be a central government with all the means and tools to govern with iron fist. No matter what, the Amharas will be oppressed as long as they do not have a voice or a roll in Ethiopian central government.
Your suggestion is to focus on Amharas and leave Ethiopia alone. Then what? Creating an independent country that will be a neighbour of Ethiopia? Remember we have 30 million Amharas in the rest of Ethiopia.
Can you briefly explain what the end goal is for Amhara nationalism.
And then we can talk about the Amharas leadership choice and Eskinder Nega.

MINLIK,
It seems you already have taken a side and you are not helping the cause. Disagreement is OK and it will help them grow. What is not good is taking sides and widening divisions, that is exactly what you are doing. You are entitled to like Eskinder and not to like Zemene but labeling Zemene based on heresy is Dangerous. Abiye Ahmed killed the Amhara leaders. you know that yet you are fabricating false stories to convince others Zemene is not a good guy. It is dangerous.
Eskinder has a leadership shortcomings but he can be an excellent spokesperson for FANO. There is no need to have a central command and alpha leader but there can be a consensus leadership.
Iconic guys like Zemene, Mere and Assegid should not be under the command of anyone but they can cooperate to lead the short campaign of dethroning PP.
Create a FANO Congress that will have a representation of 5 regions: Gojjam, Wollo, Gonder, Shewa and Amharas of other region. Each will have equal delegates to vote in non military matters. Military matters should be strictly under the command of each region. Each region should have its own spokesperson but Eskinder will be a spokesman of National FANO. Negotiations and negotiators on behalf of FANO can be approved by regional commanders.
No need for a Mengistu or Melese kind of top to bottom dictator to lead FANO.

We're in need of a political organization. This isn't about making anyone look good or bad. It's all about putting an end to people's suffering. I didn't vote for Eskinder, but I'm in agreement with the choice made by other Fano commanders. They know better than you and me. Let's respect that for now.Right wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 16:09MINLIK,

Also, Zemene didn't take part in the last election day (he refused), yet he turned around and called it illegal. He also mentioned having an ideological difference. Why did he take the oath to respect the outcome of the election when the process began? Or was he just full of himself, thinking he would lead Fano?
I mentioned that Eskinder should be closely supervised. It's based on his decisions that we will judge him. Like how he handles the Wolqayit and Raya issue, and how he deals with Tplf and Olf. Let's see how he does. Plus, isn't it better for a civilian to lead the struggle than Zemen with his own massive army?

MINILK,
Again stay away from the affairs of FANO. I can clearly see it that you have taken side and you already established a scapegoat. We have seen this kind of episode during the Kinijit era. BERHANU Nega was the culprit leading the scapegoating of Hailu Shawel and Lidetu Ayalew behind the scene. It is now clear what BERHANU Nega was upto.
You brought a subject of what a Gonder Fano doesn’t like just to wage further division and score your side of political point. Very dangerous. I don’t think you are a friend of FANO and the Amhara people.
I believe Eskinder is a good guy but he has a political shortcomings and insight. I was told when he was the leader of Balderas, he took it on his own to appoint Ermias Legesse a well known TPLF mole as his deputy in North America.
Please get off from the back of FANO. They don’t need people like you.
I am pretty sure Eskinder and co will resolve the issue of leadership.

And then we can talk about the Amharas leadership choice and Eskinder Nega.
The "Ethiopia" project is a failed project. The only thing Amharas should do is strength its core and exert its sphere of influence without letting saboteurs infiltrating it. It is evident that we Amharas are forced to live with people who are totally different from us in culture, values and psychological make up. As a result of that, whatever we try to build ends up in ruins. So peaceful divorce is the best solution.
The only obstacle on this are the noisy coward Ethiopianists. These group are the greatest danger to Amharas than the Tigers or Oromos. Amharas can easily deal with tigres and Oromos be it by hook or by crook. We were handling them for centuries when we were Amharas. The day we left our true self and got lost in this fake union, we started to be targets. Ethiopianist snakes are known to infiltrate and cause havoc, division...etc and weaken Amhara from within. Tigres use it it on us and Oromos infiltrate us using this cover.
Ethiopists are cowards but have muscle on tongue and medias. They are effective on smear campaigns and are highly corrupted and also the power to corrupt others. Eritreans defeated Ethiopianists, Tigres defeated Ethiopianists and Oromos in turn defeated Ethiopianists by making their struggle nationalist and closing the door for untrusted Ethiopianists. If Amharas need to win the battle, they need to chase Ethiopianist talkatives away.
Most Ethiopianists have this dual or triple identity and that identity is very anti-amhara. EPRP, Derg, Ezema, ANDM, Ginbot-7 and Balderas are good examples of Ethiopianist organizations who put Amharas in grave danger.
Brother Menilik, the OP for instance is not Amhara. He is diqala with two or three identity. He show up here on purpose to help Diqala Balderas take over FANO. But their attempt to install Ethiopianist Eskinder is dead on arrival.
In short, for Ethiopia to continue, Ethnic federalism should continue. These federalism made the coward Ethiopianist to lose ground to stand. These group tried to outsmart OPDO and take over, but OPDO outfoxed them. Now the coward Ethiopianist tactically tried to Enter Amhara politics by faking it. But it becomes obvious now.
Re: We're not fighting to swap out one tyrant for another.(ነጻነትን የማያው ነጻ አውጪ)
Hi Abere,
No one is accusing Fanos of being secessionist (ተገንጣይ). There is no "secessionist vs unionist" divisions in the current Ethiopian political disagreement. That division existed in Eritrea between 1940s and 1991. Such division also exists in Northern Ireland where parties are identifies as unionist or secessionist / republican.
The current political division is between Ethiopianists (አሃዳዊ) vs Federalists. Fano is a Federalist force. They want PP out of Amhara. They also want to represent Amhara interests in the future dialogue with the rest of 80 plus constituents of Ethiopia.
As you can see in the below quote, self-rule is the most fundamental request of the federalists. You must stop calling ተገንጣይ anyone is demanding self-rule.
Ok, let's assume that there are also Ethiopianist Fanos. There are also non-Ethiopianist Fanos (Remember Zemene said "our differences are ideological"?)
Now the question to you is: What will you do to the non-Ethiopianist Fanos if they say: "We are not Ethiopianist forces. We are federalist forces fighting for Amhara causes. "?
Will you join forces with PP and fight against Federalist Fanos? What will you do to the non-Ethiopianist Fanos?
