Gragn Ahmed I was in fact a fluent Amharic speaker. He was able to infiltrate the Amhara society as if he were one of them, even there there is a legend that Gragn Ahmed I, father was an infidel priest who slept with the maid of a Muslim Sheik where he got the b@stard child of Grang I. The infidel priest was lynched and killed by priests later. Thus, the origin of Gragn Amhed and his parents is mysterious. However, Gragn I was regarded as a punishment sent to Ethiopia from God. This evil speaking Amharic, eating and doing what Amhara used to caused significant damage to the country - took her 500 years back. The irony however was although he was a fanatic Muslim and Trojan horse, Emperor Gelawdos in the last hour Christianized him by chopping off his head with his sword. That swords with which Amharic speaker Gragn Amhed I beheaded and Christianized is preserved in the Holy Zion Mary of Amhara Saint, Wolo province.
