Sir Lanka has managed to bail itself out somehow but not with out a heavy price, and the fate of Kenya is unclear yet. China's debt trap is at play here, says Seyoum Teshome.

Why did the Americans invite President Ruto to the White House in the immediate run-up to the current crisis in Kenya?

To help him out or to dig the hole of his trap even deeper?

Biden knows the answer.
