As a Gurage who does not speak the Tigrey language and do not share their culture, I would definitely feel alienated. It would be as just natural for them to see me as an outsider.
I am just being honest.
This is the irony of post-colonial multi-ethnic countries governed by post-colonial govs.
I speak fluent Amharic, even boast of being unpublished poet. When I traveled in Amara on my way to Sudan, eventhough I spoke fluent Amharic, I was perceived as a foreigner or "tsagure bada". I also noticed dialect differences between our Amharics, between that of mine and those of Gojjames(former Gafats, a branch of northern Gurages such as Sodo and Chebo) and Gondares.
Is this natural or there is something wrong with me?
