Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Oromo nationalists like OPF complain why nobody from the south or the north speaks their language while the whole time they hide their language from non oromos and discriminate those who dont speak it
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Apart form job prospects or career, you learn a foreign language when you're attracted to the native speakers and their culture, way of life, traditions, heritage, etc.
No one is attracted to these savage fuc'kers and anything that's related to them. Everybody is eagerly waiting for their departure to vacate the HoA, even if they've to go to hell.

Tigrayan news aka abdeaziz aka Andertan aka union,
You must be bored to post such nonsense. If one truly wanted to learn, they can, Noone "hiding" the language.
If you live among a nation and don't learn their language: then that's strange to say the least. People would criticize you at the very least If you lived anywhere in the north If you didn't speak Amharic or maybe tigrinya.
Abyssinia lady aka "somaliman" aka eden aka kerenite,
At least try to be creative like the former economic professor ethoash, all you do is post the same thing "go to where they came from" ...is that the only attempt at an insult that you can think of? Sounds like a bitter estranged ex wife who just says anything even if it's illogical, impossible and pointless.
It's about as realistic as expecting gold doubloons to drop from the sky. An older person like you can surely think of something better, beloved Tigrayan brother/sister/we/they/she-he.

Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
____I think as to why the Oromo language unable to garner as many speakers as possible, the answer lies in exploring the demand side for it - instead of politicizing this. Many OLF and their likes have been accusing of Amharic language and Amhara as the only reason why Oromigna did not grow both in content and coverage. This lame excuse is totally wrong. Naturally, language is a commodity of communication, people objectively adopt it in their cultural, economic, social interaction on their own volution. If there were some inherent qualities and demand for it it could have reached the level where other African languages have reached. The quality of a language to symbolize, express and analyze abstract ideas, material world, the cosmic and its ease for the many aspect of life makes it electable. Does Oromigna in short supply of these qualities? or Is inelastic? I will leave that for the linguists, not for people like Bekele Geriba.
___ To underline this again, language is a commodity. And its worth and utility is determined by the market via the invisible hand. Rule out politics of this. When unwise hand of politics gets into it, the out come would be even more disaster. For instance, before Woyane and OLF, it was common people to use some words in Oromingna. I can say people want learn or imitate Oromigan in daily encounter, for that matter, so was Tigringa. When some inhumane action and behavior manifested after Qeerrro (OLF) Kegna epidemics those non-Oromo people lost the appetite to hear any word in "Oromigna", just people used avoid "Hebzi Habzi" Tigrigan during the 27-years of TPLF - do not disprove me by implying Abiy Ahmed speaks Tigre - either he is Tigre by birth or learnt for his advantage. Generally, when people disapproves some behavior and actions of certain group, they totaly avoid to hear or learn anything of that group, even if it has positive implications.
____ The OLF thugs action of coercion to impose people to learn "Oromigna" exerted an equal reaction - ignoring and avoiding it. In reality, Oromigna is on a fast track to die. People invest time to learn something when they find its utility - not because Adanech Abebe or Shimelis Abdissa wanted them to do so. No body gives sh!t to waste his/her time for OLF. Why do people learn languages, because they see some utility in it. Just like, learning language including Oromigna should be left to the choice of an individual.
____ In sum, it is better to stop politicizing language and language should not be exploited by thugs and external enemies to divide Ethiopians and agitate one against the other. All languages and cultures of Ethiopia are shared by everyone. There is exclusive monopoly over any language.

You don't speak Afan Oromo yet you dare to disqualify it on the merit of its linguistic quality. The more you open your mouth, the more we can see how hollow is the head behind that same mouth, keep us watching for you!
It was on this forum that I raised the richness of Afan Oromo and asked if there are also comparable expressions in Amharic as well, and you were forced to dig into the language museums in Gojjam, which didn't even came parallel to the current and live Afan Oromo's richness.
Neither OLF or somebody else is going to impose their language on you, as far as you decide to stay in your Gojjam, but the moment you decide to cross the Abay Gorge you are also required to communicate with the locals with the language they understand, instead of imposing your own language on them. You bring with you and impose your language on them, not by demanding you to speak the language of the locals of your current location! Get down that into your hollow head!

You opened your wide mouth based on your hollow head and I caught you red-handed and you couldn't find any place to hide behind, except the names of the 3 individuals you raised here.
The trio are not in your club to take a shield behind them. While you scribble all kinds of none senses in here 24/7, they are writing another big chapter of the rich history boldly (in collaboration with level-headed and reputable Amharas and other Ethiopians). They have no time to notice your desperate situation and give you a sanctuary.
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
___I raised a scientific issue why Oromigna did not catch-up. In stead of responding where the flaws are in this statement, you open your foul mouth. Why did not Oromigna since its appearance in Ethiopia to be spoken by most people in Ethiopia? Why has it been so stunted for hundreds of years? Do you think geological age is enough to create new vocabularies, etc to add into Oromigna ( which mostly been limited traditional pastoralist and few sedentary life style) and bring in par with the 21st century level where comprehensive communications are the expectation?
___I do not have any opposition to Oromigna if it be able to grow qualitatively at larger scale - but I am not sure if it could retain 50% of what its originality for it lacks most and should borrow most.
___ Sharing language is a good idea and is show of sameness; but people will not share your language until you share them love. What your Orommuma does is exclusion of others right from their own ancestral land of Shewa, Wolega, Arusi, et al. Love by itself is a universal language, if you genocide, discriminate and hate, let alone new ones try to learn but those who even knows some will ignore you.
Why was this school age child discriminated and barred from having school lunch? Is not he Ethiopian? Is not the lunch funded by tax payers money, including his own family? Is the Oromo question, school lunch question?

Speaking of Wollega, where is Shulka these days?
Didn't he proclaim that he will never sleep before returning the places in Wollega to the rightful owners of Amhara in Gojjam?
He forgot his own words and went to already sleep, or what?
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
DDT,
His excellency, Shaleqa Dawit W/Giorgis, spoke what he truly believed in. He said the Amhara are endogenous inhabitants of Wolega and have equal right to live in harmony with Oromos and other ethnic groups. Is there any wrong about that? The prominent OLF, Ex--President Dr. Negasso Gidada in his terminal degree research concluded the same fact as Shalaqa Dawit - Dr.Negasso shared the same stand. And exposed nearly 22 other endogenous tribe used to live in Wolega, Bizen. The issue at hand is not about who was first where, it is why OLF wants to appropriate everything which others do have similar equal right. God did not tailor the land only by Oromo size, it is every Ethiopians land. The unhealthy behavior of OLF will soon be checked. If someone claims everything is his/her, that means nothing in reality his/hers. You had better stop barking fake OLF barks.

Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Abere, can you lead by example then, assuming you're an Amara (I doubt it), and tell the Amara's to welcome the displaced tigrayans back to welkait and elsewhere; since... ''we're all ethiopians and the land is for us all''? If not, then it's obvious you're a hypocrite and wish to dominate others, the exact thing you and others accuse Oromo's of. Wallaga is primarily Oromos land, everyone is welcome, as long as they respect the local culture there and at least *try* to learn the local language, the same way Gojjam and Gondar are primarily Amara's land. If one dared go to Gondar and said this land is ''all ethiopians, not amara's,'' what do you think would happen? A violent response indeed. So let's not pretend here.
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Of course Amhara people warmly welcomes Tigrians and any other Ethiopians, because every inch of the land in Ethiopia is their country too. But the Amhara people unwelcome those who steal their land break away as republic of some new sh!t country, say, republic of sh!t Abay Tigray, republic of sh!t Oromia. These two sh!t OLF and TPLF, are the ones who invented a stealing article 39, to steal the land of all Ethiopians. Amhara has well aware of the dirty games of evil inspired Woyane and evil inspired OLF. Amhara people of these area have made repeated calls to welcome innocent Tigres, and yet unwelcome secessionist mercenaries. It was TPLF that dictated Amhara cannot speak , learn, sing, mourn or communicate in Amharic in the lands of Humera, Welqait and Raya while it is very natural for Amhara to speak, learn, govern, communicate in its own language. This is criminal and genocidal to tell an Amhara family in Welqait and Humera or Raya, to stop their children learn and practice their mothers tongue and the parents NOT to do any business in their own languages. There is no wrong for Amhara people in Wolega to use their language for any official or other business ( be at school, place of worship, market, local government offices, etc) and the same the Oromos use their languages to do any business. This is quite normal, what is weird and abnormal ( never seen in any corner of the planet) is no Amhara can practice his language in Wolegea anywhere at anytime nor their kids - Amharas have to be converted into Oromo and discontinue their identity. What kind of broken logic is this? What kind of un answered Oromo "Question" is this? Genocide of Amhara. Is this the one that answers Oromo so-called special privilege and un answered Oromo question? If this is the question, the counter effect is grave. And Amhara's have the absolute right to invoke historical claims of rights. But, this is not going to help to any party. It should be about building a country - and that is possible by mutualism. Everyone has the right to speak his or her own language, used for any business, his kids learn their language both at school and other public and government places.

Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
An Amhara kid born and raised, in America can speak his own language of Amharic; and many have attained the status of Priest and Deacon, now serving local Orthodox Church. Preaching and teaching followers - continuing and keeping their Amhara and Ethiopian identity at large. If these kids were born and raised in Wolega, if lucky to survive, they would not achieve what they achieved today. Their identity would have been erased and forcefully formatted to speak Oromigna and converted into Pente. If this is not worse than slavery, for Amhara in Oromia what else could be. This called the unanswered question of "Oromo".

So did the tegaru mothers and kids there in welkait, try to make the ''breakaway state'' then, or were they just civilians moved there, whenever, living normal lives; until the war broke out & the fano/endf/others told them to pack their bags or....you know what? What about the displaced tegarus now, hungry, hopeless, nowhere to go; will they be welcomed back there then? Would the amara armed militias there let them go back? If so, can they speak tigrigna and amharic too, or will they be forced to ONLY speak Amharic? Let's be honest here?
We all saw civilians who were kicked out of there, and I am not sure if babies and women can be considered ''breakaway tplf's''? If you have proof to the contrary, I'd gladly admit it's right; feel free to share such proof.
In regards to wallaga; the amara's there should at least *try* to learn the language, if not; then why complain if you are excluded for not wanting to learn and be like the locals? In America, or the UK, or even Spain; you speak english or spanish. If we go to gondar or gojjam, we have no choice but to learn and speak amharic, nothing else would/could be proper or tolerated; so why the double standards when they're in the lands of others?
No ONE is saying they have to 'become oromo',' but yes, learn the language, at least TRY, the same way we'd be expected to learn and speak Amharic if we went to the Amara's land. There is NO WAY that we can go to gondar or gojjam and try to live there without knowing some Amharic-the locals would not accept it; yet you want to do the opposite in Oromo land, how can one not see the hypocrisy and double standards there?
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
___ In war, truth is the first causality. You are here trying to fake reality in stead of facing the truth. Tigray people are welcome as they had been for thousands of years, what is unwelcome are those scessisonist and vanguard of sh!t article 39. The wolves in sheep skin are unwelcome. You are just trying to create a false equivallence to evade the grim reality in Wolega, Arusi, etc.
___ First, like it or not what you must sticking it to your head is Amhara are endegous inhabitants of Wolega, Arusi, etc. of in the so-called Oromia cr@p. Amhara are not 0.0001% minorities as they are in America or the West. There are ten millions of Amhara living in the fake cr@p Oromia - they are not even minority as you like to depict. Those in Wolega, Arusi, etc can have their equal standing as the Oromos - they should use their language at school to teach their kids, at the court of law, place of worship. These Orommuma cr@p will never work - it is rather better to respect the right of Amhara people in their own country and ancestral land of Wolega, Shewa, Arusi, etc. OLF's Jumping and up and down to defended the most illogical and indefensible issue is simply a waste of time of the country. There is no question, this tribal kil-all Kilil will be soon dismantled - people are utterly fade-up. Only the so-called elite OLF thugs ( making money in Oromo blood) are making loud noise. No OLF can instruct Amhara to shut up their mouth not talk in Amharic - those zealot OLF thugs saying that would get their arse shut. Amhara just like Oromo has equal standing and equal right everywhere in the country. So, Wolega is Amhara's land too, like it or not.

You are just trying to create a false equivallence to evade the grim reality in Wolega, Arusi, etc.

So basically all the women, babies, elderly, men, etc, who were told to leave welkait by the amara militias are the ''secessionists''? Oh ok. Can you prove that, then? You are saying they're ''welcome'' then how come they haven't returned yet? Why haven't the Amara govt/fano/people faciliated the welcoming back of the civilians, even after vetting them, at least the politically INACTIVE women and children and elderly, then? It's good that you are showing your true colors and insulting the Oromos and their land-that's a GREAT way to prove your points & make you look less ''tribal'' than the ones you point your hypocritical fingers at! No one is saying don't speak Amharic, but it's logical and right to try, the keyword being: try, to speak the language of the majority and of those whom you've lived with; Afaan Oromo and Oromo people. The same way we'd HAVE TO speak Amharic to go live in Gondar, Gojjam, elsewhere. Funny how you ignore that truthful point (({because you want Amara's (even though I get tplf troll vibes from you) to get special privileges in the lands of others, while not affording those privileges to others; can we go to gondar and only speak english or afaan oromo; and live there in peace? NO!) and go on a random rant about OLF this, OLF that. Talking about what will happen, when you do not even know what will happen in the next hour, let alone the next year or years, is pointless. When it happens, IF IT HAPPENS, then come and brag about it; until then, it's just empty rhetoric.

sadacha,
___I am not an ethnocentrist, I am an Ethiopianist. I voice for those who have been intentionally targeted by the system, solely created by OLF and TPLF in the 1990s. Any one wound in the country hurts any normal person. The problem however is die-hard OLF and TPLF makes too much noise to confuse and hide their evil plan - targeting and singling out one to attack - because the stronger their designated enemy is the impossible to materialize their wishful and hurtful dream.
____ Please also note, I never said any Amhara should not speak Oromigna. What to learn to speak or not to learn is a matter of individual choice, just like you choose your love of life or soul mate it is up to the person. There should not be hard and fast rule prescription. Society is an objective entity it naturally figures out what comes next. The OLF coercions is destruction of social fabric and cohesion.
___ In any case, said what I truly believe will happen. People and the entire nation is fade up of tribal cr@p. All these cr@p kil-all Kilil will be tossed away. TIME WILL PROVE THIS - IT WILL HAPPEN.

Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Define a commodity of communication and you will find the solution to both sides of the argument in there. Won’t you?Abere wrote: ↑17 Jun 2024, 08:20____I think as to why the Oromo language unable to garner as many speakers as possible, the answer lies in exploring the demand side for it - instead of politicizing this. I will leave that for the linguists, not for people like Bekele Geriba.![]()
Have a policy of bilingualism across Ethiopia’s local languages and you will find the solution to both sides of the argument. Won’t you?
Isn’t a solution to both sides of the argument about Ethiopia’s related languages that simple?
That will also open an opportunity for what literate bilinguals will be able to bring about for easier commodities of communication in the years to come by mending the disfigured related languages? Will it not?
That said, the easiest way to understand the demand on the ground today for the commodity of communication is to imagine how many families in Ethiopia out of every hundred families do their family businesses every single day and night. This is not hard to imagine if you really know Ethiopia. Is it?
It has been said that when people overcome attending to their basic needs like food and shelter, they start doing art like theatre and drama. They will do so using the same language that they have been using to attend to their basic needs.
I am critical of both sides of the argument because they fail terminally when you go back in time to about 500 and about 700 years.
All of you in this lopsided argument should really ask yourselves if these two short time periods of history really define Ethiopia’s ancient history.
Do Yekuno Amlak’s rise in Shewa and Gragn’s arrival in Shewa and Yekuno Amlak’s descendants arrival in Gondar after that fully define Ethiopia. Not at all!
Re: For 200 years Oromunna failed to teach others their language
Before I got a chance to read this thread, I got a chance to watch on TV an interview with Anthony Fauci. The moment I heard him say that people blame him without evidence, I couldn’t help asking impulsively if he is a retard. I had imagined of him as a scientist.Sadacha Macca wrote: ↑18 Jun 2024, 13:49so why the double standards when they're in the lands of others?

I learned from the interview that his scientific career spanned the times between HIV/AIDS and COVID.
That alone is enough evidence for people to blame him for at least a dereliction of duty.
If I am not mistaken, he is an Italian descent who speaks perfect English even if it doesn’t make him a perfect British. That alone makes him a clown of the British. If his dereliction of duty also failed the Italians, his heritage, it makes him a shame of Italy.
His dereliction of duty to heal humanity from HIV/AIDS and COVID makes him a rat of history and a specimen for humanity to understand his colossal failure as a scientist.
If he were a real scientist, he could at least repent that he failed to resign in the face of these colossal diseases that affected humanity on a global scale over decades, instead of blaming people for blaming him without evidence.
As a student of science, this is what came to my mind after hearing him say that in the interview.
Please read my questions and ask yourself if they are unfair to him.
Reading your lines here, I asked the same question because they are evidently erroneous.
Whose land was Wallagga before the Borana arrived there some 500 years ago? Why is there a double standard on your part about the rights of the people who were already living there before the Borana arrived there and waged war against them?
