Meles gave them an opportunity to fight a united Ethiopian army in 1998 and they were losing. The fact is Tigrayans are the number one military enemy of shabia. Shabia came to Addis because of Tigrayan warriors. Once Tigray said no to shabia. Shabia couldn't defeat Ethiopia anymore.
Eritrean POWs captured by Meles Zenawi Army
The Shabia regularly tell us that they by themselves overthrew the Derg and that they defeated all of Ethiopia.

TesfaAgame,
In March 1999, over 20,000 Ethiopian soldiers were evaporated in a 3 day battle at Igri Mekel. Most of them were Agames because the plan was to drive to Asmara and TPLF goons wanted Agames to get the first shot to loot Asmara. In fact, 5,000 Agame peasants were recruited to do the looting. BTW, it was Tsadqan who led the debacle. It seems like he learned nothing from that defeat.
In all, over 123,000 Ethiopians, over 50,000 of them Agames, lost their lives in the 2 year war. Agame divisions called Allula, Hawzen, Kibrit were totally annihilated. The death of Agameland began when they back-stabbed Eritrea. Badme, their excuse for the war, will forever remain a symbol of Agame perfidy.
