General Sebhat Efrem, the Eritrean defense minister who's known for his famous prophetic metaphors, in his 2009 speech he used the rubber band theory as a metaphor for accurately predicting the inevitable fall of the TPLF regime and their return to Chigray. He asked his audience to think of weyane as "the stretched rubber band that must return to it's original shape when released." Meaning, back to Dedebit; back to square one; out of Welkait; Out of Badme; The end of their zero-sum game. Game Over!
