It is a love & hate relationship and it's root cause is identity crises due to colonial "mindset reengineering" , which moulded them to despise and hate their brothers. Jealousy is also part of it. As Eritrea was advanced some 80 years ago and now transformed to stone age they are too jealous of what Ethiopia/ Tigray achieved( that why they destroyed Tigray). Though on one side they want to be independent their other side wants to stick with Ethiopia and regret their independence.
