Why do Italians celebrate their 1936 victory over Abyssinia, and their subsequent 6 years of colonization of the African country, while ignoring their defeat at the battle of Adwa 40 years earlier in 1896?
Italians being selective in choosing which battle to celebrate and which one to ignore, can only be seen as a denial to their 1896 defeat.
Why do they choose to deny a defeat they were able to redeem 40 years later?
I think the Italians need to learn from Ethiopians on how to accept reality and suppress the emotions that lead to selective memory.
