That’s for Eritreans to answer, not me. And I doubt those Eritreans who didn’t fully experience life while their country was part of Ethiopia could give you a balanced answer.

But as an Ethiopian, I would say this: Eritrea’s independence has hurt both countries tremendously. However, the primary culprit isn’t the independence. It’s rather how TPLF and EPLF rushed the process, turn against each other in the aftermath and are unable to come to terms since then.

Meles never hated eritrea he hated isias afewerki or had issues with him but his collective punishment of trying to sabotage isias led him supporting sanctions against eritrea and sending miss information and lied about eritrea which led to the isolation and misery for eritreans, his feud with isias also hurted eritrea not just isias because of the border war. But isias was never interested in badme his issue was just to get even with isias hence why he had no issue losing the court case against eritrea he kept on holding the land thinking it would hurt isias all his policies were results of reactive behaviour

No, stop lying. There were 300 Shabia soldiers that came to Addis just fake it as if they were fighting on Ethiopian soil

The 60k plus soldiers that went to Addis were Tefera Mamo's Amara soldiers

You could not even liberate Asmera for 60 years let alone Addis

How has Eritrea independence hurt ethiopia? I would say ethiopia has benefited from Eritrean independence.

We Ethiopians need to move beyond empire building, a simple notion of more land equalls more benefit, which is false. Where in fact the people living on that land is where the value lies. No need to obsess over jebena looking ethiopia and realise what makes a civilization great is not ever expanding borders that swallows more and more burdensome negroṣ but cohesive inhabitant base that produces valuable culture and economic output.

Regardless of the nature of the outcome now experienced by Eritrea and Eritreans, let's be objective: Meles Zenawi was half-Tigray and half-Eritrea. At that time, without any moral dilemma he was in favor of Eritrea. That was what his thought - without knowing the unintended consequence. Did have some plan later at the back of his mind? If he were alive we would have seen it. But he might, the Abay Tigray Utopia was not without some evil plan.

What is the proof and validation as to his favoritism? The Badme crisis is a clear testimony Meles Zenawi was in fact an undercover Eritrea. The rift within the TPLF high-ranking military generals about the miscarrying the war. Meles Zenawi was at logger heads with those generals who wanted continue the war and advance to conclude it. He rescued Eritrea from falling. Did that benefit Eritrea? Overall, although Meles pretended by mocking let the camels use Assab and ridiculed Eritrea, he was truly supporting and taking care of Eritrea. However, the unintended adverse effect ought weighted all the impaired decision, hasty, non-participatory process. He built a house on a sand.

Is Ethiopia affected too? Of course yes, mostly the ethnic federalism was a setup to Ethiopia and hold her back to remain in perpetual violence. The house of cards works only under this scenario. Secondly, logically Eritrea without Ethiopia is a fish without water. That means when everything goes wrong in Eritrea it spills over or triggers problem in Ethiopia. They are organically linked - although thugs did not think like that.

Will the situation change anytime soon? No. As long as Shabia, Woyane and OLF ( the tri-evils) exist the problem will continue and innocent people will continue to suffer. The lives and security of the tri-evils is above everything else.
