The Eritreans didn't have any time for anything else other than plaguing anything that come along their way, including used household utensils, like used pans, old mattresses and anything that came their way.
As coward as they are they thought suddenly to have had a big opportunity to get over the Tigreans, whom they accused of having occupied their territories like Badme for over 20 years. They thought it is either now or never. Any brave fighter would wait until the opponent gets the opportunity to recollect from the current qualm and unfortunate situation before a revenge. As an example Ethiopia said "we don't want to attack Sudan to reclaim our disputed territories that they occupied during the war" when the Sudanese themselves plugged into their own internal and devastating war, which is still going on. That would have been an opportunistic and cowardly act of revenging one's opponent. For the Eritreans, on the other hand, such an occasion was the best opportune time.
