I can start listing some of the handicaps but more importantly lack of adequate skill-sets will hamper the ambition to shot into the target. I feel that we lacked the required educational quality and that can't be remedied in a short time.
Corruption and cronyism, political intrigue of the different classes, favoritism and similar mal-practices of the elites, the diaspora factor, which will keep harming the mother land in order to fulfill its delegation on behave of external adversaries.
An investor in Wolayita Sodo will not hire anyone from any other places before the youths in the community have all find jobs, just as an example. The case of Oromo and Amhara are just on the extreme case, my way or the highway for both of them.
The case of current day Amhara politicians is a vivid example, just to grab the power at the center they decisively ruined any development initiatives in the region, which can also be said for the rest in the country. The case of the Tigreans is also a fresh memory.
Vital institutions of development like banks are also branded locally and with that limited their outreach to the broader market, they are all called Amhara bank, Oromia Bank, Tigrean Bank, Guraghe Bank and the like. The problem is not the naming itself but the idea behind the motivations, all try to appeal to the local sentiment and with that lose on the outreach side of the spectrum. These all hinder economic activities free hands.
It would have been a once in generations chance to find someone like Abiy Ahmed, a selfless and development enthusiast, who would give anything to see a progress but the country is unfortunately not yet ready, to lead successfully the country, I just feel.
