Each of the 45 African countries that attended the summit have the potential to get a $130 million in investment from the Italian government's $6 billion funding plan. Not a bad deal. It's very rare that you see this kind of investment deal from European countries.

France, for example, never offered these kind of investment deals to African countries. In fact, in 2019, before she became Italy's Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni accused France of exploiting the resources of 14 West and Central African countries by forcing them to use the colonial era currency from the 1930's called CFA franc which is still controlled by France that manipulates the exchange rates. This means that the economies of these very poor 14 African countries is controlled by France. Neo-colonialism.

Italy is trying to take the place of France in Africa, but it is doing it the Chinese way by focusing on investment without exploiting the countries' resources. It is a smart move, and it is a win-win partnership.
