The President of Somalia’s federal government Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the leader of the separatist region of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi met in Djibouti on Thursday, December 28th, and Friday, 29th, 2023, in what was supposed to be a historic meeting to pave the way for a unified Somalia. After two days of negotiations, both parties signed an agreement outlining a commitment to resume talks within 30 days, establishing technical committees to oversee discussions....etc...etc.
But the warlord from Somaliland Kilil was hiding something from Somalia's President.
2 days after the meeting in Djibouti, on Monday, January 1st, 2024, the warlord from Somaliland traveled to Ethiopia and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that caught Somalia's President by total surprise.
The fact that the warlord didn't tell Somalia's President about the MoU during their meeting in Djibouti reveals that the deal was shrouded in deception, and at the heart of the matter of the MOA lies a wicked plot against Somalia.
Tigray warlords made millions of dollars from their invasion and occupation of Somalia. Cash-strapped Abiy also wants to make his millions to finance the construction of his palace. But long gone are the days when mercenaries can invade, occupy, or annex someone else's territories without given a dose of their own medicine.
