In case Ethiopia recognises us first. Very few other countries will recognise somaliland , But we will share every thingy with Ethiopia. What belongs to them belongs to us , what we have belongs to them. Simple. We will basically share every thing and they won't intervene our system.

If Somalia recognises us first , More than half of the world will recognise us immediately , but we won't be accepted in the UN for other reasons. For example , Taiwan is our darling and china is angry.

Either ways somaliland wins. The question is who is More willing to do the first move ?

if Somalia recognises you the entire world recognises you witht the exception of China they might block you using their veto power from Joining the the United nations. if Ethiopia recognises you it is just Ethiopia thats all nobody else will follow u will be like turkish cyprus area . so its better to negotiate with Somalia than with ethiopia because u wont gain anything from Ethiopias recognition. If u were smart u would have forced Ethiopia to help access the AU and their israeli Partners to be on the good side of uncle sam. But i dont think it will get to that , i also think that Ethiopia wont recognise Somaliland. Because it is scared of what Somalia will say or do it will back down from the MOU eventually. The heat will become to much and that will be the end of Ethiopia and their dream to have a navy force on the golf of aden.

I Dont think the galla chimp has the balls to change the natural order of the Horn of Africa he wont dare to recognise Somaliland . He knows if he does Somali region will declare independence and it will be chaos instantaneously. Also the day he recognise Somaliland his troops will leave somalia and the ethiopian army will lose income money from the EU. That is also a reason why he wont recognise Somaliland. And third he has no money to build up a navy to begin with. Also Somalia will support fano against him and also OLF and others , we have allot of cards to Stop Ethiopia from gaining access to the red sea

Your analysis is largely accurate but consider this - If Ethiopia breaks the ice economically powerful countries such UK will hasten to grab the Somaliland market particularly the suspected oil exploration. So, if Ethiopia remains firm, I expect the next important countries will be UAE and UK .... etc.

Will Ethiopia drag its feet? There two possibilities - either abiy will be quick and decisive against the massive internal external opposition. Remember, any retreat from this MoU is a declaration of defeat and probably will led to the collapse of the regime internally. Or, Abiy and Somalilanders could design a slower and a more tactful process.

But you are right - if Somaliland uses the full market potential of Ethiopia in many ways, that itself will be a giant step for Somaliland.

If Abbiy backs down, it is over for him. He is done and he knows it. He bluffed and bluffed. If Abbiy recognizes Somali Land then Somali Land as well be part of Ethiopia since no other country will follow it. Why, the recognition is tied to the port deal. That is called stringes attached. Alshebab will feast in the Somali part of Ethiopia, hence expect Alshebab Ogadenia. Best strategy for Ethiopia is to deal directly through Somalia. Somali Land does not need Ethiopian recognition.

Ethiopian national security adviser Redwan Hussien has said that Addis Ababa was "willing to listen to friends” in a bid to de-escalate tensions with Somalia over a controversial port deal with the self-declared republic of Somaliland.

"As part of our commitment, we shall redouble our effort to ensure a better understanding. Will listen to friends for a possible coordination of efforts lowering rhetoric," Mr Redwan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"Will continue striving to steadily reach at a conclusion with amicable considerations which benefit all," he added.

On Monday, Mr Redwan criticised meddling by “opportunistic external actors” in the row between Somalia and Ethiopia.

The remarks were perceived as aimed at Egypt, which has warned against threats to Somalia's sovereignty.

The row was triggered by Ethiopia signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somaliland early this month.

The deal gives landlocked Ethiopia access to a seaport for military and commercial purposes.
