Arab League denounces Ethiopia-Somaliland MoU as “Coup” against Somali unity

Post by Fiyameta » 18 Jan 2024, 07:53

The Arab League said, Ethiopia wants to keep Somalia divided, because if Somalia is united and becomes a stable country, Ethiopia gets to lose the revenue it earns from its so-called "peace-keeping" mission in Somalia. May be it is time for Ethiopia to explore dignified ways to generate income. Or, perhaps, work on uniting its own people. :|

The Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has condemned the recent memorandum of understanding signed between Ethiopia and the administration of the Somaliland region, calling it a “blatant coup” against international law and Somali unity.

“This agreement is a one-sided, fraudulent act that violates international security and stability,” Aboul Gheit declared during an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers held on Wednesday. He reaffirmed the League’s rejection of any agreements that undermine Somali sovereignty or hinder negotiations between the Somali government and its regions.

Aboul Gheit urged the international community to uphold Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to oppose attempts to exploit the situation for secessionist purposes. He called for continued support for Somalia, emphasizing the need for training and support for Somali officials to help them assert full control over their territory.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, echoed Aboul Gheit’s condemnation, accusing Ethiopia of “sowing unrest in its regional environment” with the agreement. He labelled Ethiopia’s actions a “fait accompli policy” that ignores the interests of African nations and violates international law.

Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia and urged all Arab and international parties to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He pledged ongoing coordination to provide training and support for Somali officials, enabling them to manage their resources and achieve full control over their territory.

If Ethiopia's policy towards Somalia is to divide the country and make it ungovernable, what will happen if Somalia that has gained many sympathizers and allies in recent months adopts a similar policy towards Ethiopia? Can the UAE save its African colony in such scenario? :|

Ethiopia is the perfect embodiment of evil. Not only has it been turning every stone over to divide between the Somali people and defragment their country, but also, it has been demonising Eritrea and its leader to the West to the extent that Eritrea is bearing the economic consequences of this fabricated demonisation to date.

If the West had a shred of sincerity, it would have awarded the fuc.king Nobel Peace Prize also to President Isaias Afwerki. As they say, "It takes two to tango". The peace initiative between Eritrea and Ethiopia wouldn't have gone far, leave alone bearing fruit, without the sincere efforts of Afwerki. But Afwerki doesn't kiss ar.se, while Ethiopians have perfected the art of kissing ar'se.

They should discuss about Gaza. We are not Arabs. That organisation is run by Egyptians who are enemies of our progress.
