I cannot believe this: Eritrean Folks in this Forum are Frantic about the Fraud Sovereignty of Somalia dashed by Somaliland.
Wondering why this happens to some folks. Somalis is many miles away from Eritrea.
Re: Can't believe this: Eritrean Folks in this Forum are Frantic about the Fraud Sovereignty of Somalia dashed by Somali
The act of seeking a just resolution for the sake of peace should not be perceived as an act of desperation. Consider the hypothetical scenario where Somalia acknowledges the sovereignty of Tigray, Oromos, or Ogadeni in the future. In such a case, what is the expectation from the Eritrean side? Is it reasonable to assume that the Eritreans would remain silent or support Somalia’s action of transgression Ethiopia’s sovereignty? This is short political gain for Abiy and his Peepee party but will not materialize no matter what. It will be the curse to Ethiopia and the people. Just wait and see.
What is wrong with you so called educated Ethiopians? How come don’t you see that got tricked by con Artists. Are you really believe it will materialized? Smh

See below a post I wrote 10 years ago. It will help people understand how Isiais and his supporters think. They are happy to sacrifice permanent long-term benefits and interests over short term satisfactions and gains.
"My enemy's Enemy is My Friend": Fundamental Principle of Isayas & Co.'s Foreign Policy
"My enemy's Enemy is My Friend": Fundamental Principle of Isayas & Co.'s Foreign Policy
sarcasm wrote: ↑27 Dec 2013, 11:02All countries in the world have different principles to shape their foreign policies. These principles are based on the values, traditions, long-term interests and priorities of the countries. They enable a country to have consistent foreign policies in line with its values and interests. For example, the US prioritizes strategic interests over human rights in its foreign policy. Fighting communism also used to be one the pillars of the US foreign policy.
The doctrine of "My enemy's Enemy is My Friend" advances the concept that if two parties have common enemy, then they can work together to advance common goals and triumph over their common enemy. When Eritrea suddenly broke diplomatic relations with Sudan in 1994, the Eritrean goverment kicked out the Sudanese Embassy and brought John Garang and handed over the embassy office premise to SPLM. Eritrea hosted a conference of the Sudanese opposition organizations in 1995 to help the opposition to create a united front.
"My enemy's Enemy is My Friend" Leads to Unsavoury Bedfellows and Sanctions
When Eritrea and Ethiopia broke relations in 1997/8 and fought the Badme War, it did not take long for TV programs of Ethiopian Opposition organizations to become regular fixture on Eri TV. Ethiopian opposition were given weekly airtime to broadcast in Amharic and Oromo. Eri TV was broadcasting regular programmes in Amharic while Eritreans were banned from playing Amharic music in public!(clubs, taxi, graduations, etc ). The principle of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" has lead Eritrea to have unsavoury bedfellows of Ethiopian oppositions that do not even accept Eritrea's independence.
The doctrine of "My enemy's enemy is my friend" is also the main reason Eritrea was involved in the Somalia mess and the consequent sanctions and a pariah state in international community. Islamist extremists became the other distasteful bedfellows for Isayas & Co.'s government although they were diametrically opposite in ideology and religion. When Meles' government invaded Somalia to remove the Islamic Courts, Eritrea had to provide refuge for Meles' enemies. They even organized a symposium for all forces opposed to the Somalian government backed by Meles' government around the remembrance of the 9 / 11 attacks. In that way they can [deleted] the Americans and Ethiopians at the same time. Killing two birds in one stone!
"My enemy's Enemy is My Friend" Leads to Inconsistent and Conflicting Policies
The principle of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" has lead Isayas & Co. to adopt an inconsistent and conflicting policy in Sudan. Sudan & Eritrea resumed diplomatic relations around 2006. SPLM and the Sudanese government agreed to resolve their problem in a referendum to be carried out in 2011. The new South Sudanese government was forming close business relationship with the Ethiopian government, which pissed Isayas off. South Sudan's close relations with Ethiopia were mainly due to proximity as they both share a long borderline. The South Sudanese were also grateful to Ethiopian support going back to the Haile Selassie and Mengstu eras. Isayas supported SPLM for a decade while Sudan and Eritrea were not talking (1994 - 2005)even though the independent South Sudan was not going to be Eritrea's neighbor. Al Bashir's North Sudan will be the part of Sudan that was going to share borderline with Eritrea.
Around 2009, Isayas and Al Bashir reconciled their differences as they were both subjects of international sanctions. And they became best friends dodging ICC arrest warrants and UN sanctions while South Sudanese became close to Meles. Then Isayas started to oppose the independence of South Sudan. It is not difficult to understand what the South Sudanese feel about Eritrea as 99% of them voted to become independent. Al Beshir also told reporters that he holds grudge for years when he supported Libyan opposition forces against Gaddaffi as a payback for Gadaffi's support to Beshir's opposition years ago. Isayas scored an own goal! Al Bashir's North Sudan became Eritrea's next door neighbor although Isayas & Co. supported SPLM for a decade against a country which is our next door neighbor. His late opposition to South Sudan's independence has also earned Eritrea resentment of South Sudanese.
If Eritrea's foreign policy was based on national long-term interest (in relation to North Sudan) or a principle of self-determination consistent with our history (in relation to South Sudan), such blunder would not have been possible and Eritrea would not have earned resentment of both North and South Sudan. But, "My enemy's Enemy is My Friend" made it possible.

The first foreign policy post-Isiaias Eritrea bins into garbage bin is "My enemy's Enemy is My Friend".

Not all bad times are bad time, because there could be also a lot of good stitched in together. Knowing when people grow so frantic over none of affair stuff is one such find of times.
