If the U.S. Congress Senate visit Taiwan & U.S Deploys Military Asset, Why not Ethiopia in Somaliland? It is Regional Heavy Weight.
The only reason the U.S. has not recognized Taiwan is not because of respecting UN rules, it is more likely fear of waging war with China. Why is Russia took away Crimea and more lands from Ukraine while being one who is Veto member - who has the responsibility to be a role model respecting UN rules - but UN is an a voluntary NGO association, that is what it means. If it does not help secure your existence you do not need it because it is a weapon to be used against you. I do not recall in history this NGO(aka UN) has been helpful to Ethiopia, rather I know it has been used against Ethiopia since its inception.
UN exists for these reasons: 1) It has large staff and should exist to keep them employed and paid
2) It exists because its an arm for a few

Creamea was part of Russia before the Soviet Union came into existence. US and Ethiopia are not the same. BTW, Ethiopia never approached Somali Land or Somalia to station its army in Somali Land. For what mission. It has to be justified and acceptable to Somalia. On the surface US and China may not be viewed as allies. But, at times they do act like one. China’s rise to fame as economic power house has a lot to do with American and European economies.

US has bases all over Somalia including a huge military complex known as Baledogle. Basically Somalia is a pro US country.

Ethiopia has similar stake on Somaliland as the U.S. has on Taiwan. In fact Ethiopia has more reasons to do so. There are no different rules of game under the sun, that one has to and others not to follow.
