A benevolent dictatorship is a government in which an authoritarian leader exercises absolute political power over the state, but is perceived to do so with regard for benefit of the population as a whole, A benevolent dictator may allow for some civil liberties or democratic decision-making to exist, such as through public referendums or elected representatives with limited power.
The way out, A benevolent dictatorship for Africa.
I am convinced that Democracy for Africa is a waste of time, energy and resources. Whenever I watched the Ethiopian leader BS and the parliament, they are completely a waste of time and sad to observe. Case in point I rather have Eritrean style government than the BS we have in Ethiopia.

I love his answer.
BTW....Today, Singapore is RICHER than its former colonizer, Great Britain. The reporter asking the question is from London's Financial Times.

Zemen,
There is no such thing as benevolent dictatorship. All those idiots you listed, perhaps with the exception of ATA Turk, they are all failures. Democratic countries are much more successful. That hard headed idiot called Mao cost China so much so, practically, it was a third world country for decades. You know, China has been the longest reigning super power until the 1930’s. But another dictatorship emerging from imperial Japan destroyed the longstanding super power to the ground. You have the likes of Stalin, Idi Amin, Hitler, juvenile foolish Gaddafi, African idiotic dictators in general, in the company of failures. Excuses….da da dada.

Lee Kwan Yew is an exception. Thirty years into his leadership, compare that to Isayas reign of thirty years. There is no comparison. And yet, Lee’s grandson, an economist in London, faults his own grandfather. He claims that he could have done more.
