The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted a resolution A/78/L.10 calling on Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights in Syria. The draft resolution called ‘The Syrian Golan’ was introduced by Egypt. It was adopted as 91 member nations voted in favour. Eight countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, and Canada, voted against it. 62 states abstained. The Golan Heights, which belonged to Syria since 1944, were occupied by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967.
