As far as Eritrea is concerned, Zena is as good as it gets. There has never been and nor will ever be a leader that is as good as Zena when it comes to mutual relationship between the two.

to expect from any future ethiopian leader to emerge and give the eritreans a better deal than zenawi has given them during his entire stay in power is to expect from that future leader to serve eritrea at the expense of the ethiopia he is ruling.

Meles is as good as it ever gets for eritrea and eritreans! this dude didn't fight them on referendum nor access to the sea. he has a record of fighting against their deportation, during the heat of the '98 -2000 war, as demanded by hardliners in his own circle/ party - bringing into question his very own credibility and loyality to his party and nation in the eyes of those narrow minded but powerful enough to take him out!

he let eritrean refugees go to the cities to join their relatives and out of the refugee camps. he even let them join colleges and universities where their chances elsewhere in the world would have been limitted to rotting in refugee camps and even jails as is the case with the racist/ inhuman israeli government. let's not forget his policy of returning the wealth of those unfairly and illegaly deported. Meles is as good as it gets - EVER!
