Victim of abuse is beaten and pelted with a bicycle
THE HAGUE - A 29-year-old man was assaulted in The Hague by three men, one of whom threw a bicycle at him. The victim also says he was hit with a knife. The suspects are clearly visible on surveillance images.
This is a case from the Team West investigation program of Tuesday, September 5. More things can be found here.
On Saturday, May 27, around 8:10 p.m., the victim walks along the Loosduinseweg in The Hague, in the direction of Paul Krugerlaan. He passes a group of five men standing in front of a coffee shop. As they pass by, one of the men asks, "What are you looking at?"
The 29-year-old man walks back a bit and says that the man himself was looking at him. Then he gets a punch in the face. He wants to defend himself and some pushing and pulling ensues, which seems to be calmed for a moment by another man from the group.
But shortly afterwards things go wrong again: the victim is hit again, runs away, but is assaulted by three men and falls to the ground. One of the men takes a bicycle from the rack and throws it at the victim. He says that a beer bottle was also thrown at him and that he was hit on the head and chin with a knife, but that is not visible in the images. The man was taken to hospital after the assault.
Because not all men in the group of five participate in the actual abuse, two have been made unrecognizable. The police are looking for the other three.
