Why Abiy failed as a team builder and a leader ?

According to Tuckman's model of team building , teams move through five stages of development known as forming, storming, norming , performing and adjourning. Once they reach to the norming stage teams will have shared vision, mission and trust among each other to perform as a team ( the effective/ performing stage) .



Abiy failed to build a normalized and performing team even after five years and his team could not develop beyond the forming & storming phases. Actually his team has been under the vicious circle of forming and storming with his frequent change of team members and his inconsistency in adhering to his own vision and promises.

He has also failed to include all critical stakeholders in his team ( eg TPLF) and his frequent change of his team and inability to build shared vision, mission trust and discipline among his team members made him a lone player ( a dictator). He also wrongly included in his team / allied to hostile stakeholders/ adversaries such as Isaias and Amhara extremists which could not have shared vision ,mission and goals within his vision of prospering and uniting Ethiopia and they derailed him out of a peaceful path to a bloody vicious conflict and destructive war.


The only option for Abiy in the future is to continue as a dictator/ king with out crown and in case he is able to stabilize Ethiopia to be followed as a cult leader similar to Hitler or Isaias( ወደ፥ ብልፅግና፥ ወይም፥ ወደ፥ ብልግናና፥ እልቂት፥ የመራ፥ መሪ)
