ሳላ ፈስቲቫል ኤርትራ ኣብ ቀጽሪ ኤክስፖ፡ ካብ ዓመት ናብ ዓመት ንባህሊን ልምድን ሕብረተ-ሰብ ኤርትራ ዘላሊ ዝተፈላለየ ምርኢታት ክቐርብ ጸኒሑ እዩ። እዘን ዝሓለፋ ሰለስተ ዓመታት ግን፡ ብሰንኪ ኮሮና ቫይረስ፡ እቲ ኣጋጣሚ ተቛሪጹ ድሕሪ ምጽናሕ፡ ሎሚ ዓመት ዳግም ከም ቀደሙ፡ ብጽቡቕ ምድላዋትን ፍናንን ክቕጽል ክኢሉ ኣሎ።

በዚ ከኣ መዓልታዊ፡ ብኣሽሓት ዝቑጸር ህዝቢ ይነግዶን ይቋደሶን ኣሎ። ብፍላይ ወረስቲ ሕድሪ መንእሰያትን ህጻናትን ካብን ናብን ቁሸታት ተውዛሕዛሕ ክብሉን ባህልን ልምድን ሕብረተ-ሰቦም ክወርሱን እንክትርኢ፡ ዕላማ ናይ’ቲ ምርኢት ማዕረ ክንደይ ኣገዳሲ ምዃኑ ይስወጠካ። ከምኡ’ውን ካብ ወጻኢ ሃገር ዝመጽኡ ብርክት ዝበሉ ኤርትራውያን፡ ምስ ደቆምን ምሓዙቶምን ኣብ’ቲ ንግደት ክሳተፉ እንክትዕዘቦም፡ ኤርትራዊ ኣብ ዝሃለወ ይሃሉ ፈታዊ ዓዱን ዓቃቢ ክብረቱን ባህሉን ምዃኑ የሐብነካ።

ሕብረተ-ሰብ ኤርትራ ካብ ጥንቲ ጥቅምቲ ብሓደ እናነበረን ብእኩብ እናሓሰበን እዩ ክመጽእ ጸኒሑን ዘሎን። ምስጢር ሓድነቱን ፍቕሩን እውን ኣብ’ዚ እዩ ዝምርኰስ። እዚ በብዓመቱ፡ ኣብ ውሽጢ ሃገርን ወጻኢን ዝእንገድ ዘሎ ፈስቲቫላት ድማ፡ መቐጸልታ መግለጺ መንነቱን ሓድነቱን ኰይኑ፡ ከም ሃገርን ህዝብን ብሓደ ተኣኪብና ሓሳብ ንሓሳብ ክንለዋወጥ ከምኡ’ውን ተሞኩሮታትና ክንካፈል ባይታ ዝህብ ስለዝዀነ፡ ኣብ ሓድነትናን ክብርታትና ነዳዲ ዘወስኽ ጽምብል እዩ።

ናይ ሎሚ ዓመት ፌስቲቫል፡ ድሮ ሓምሻይ መዓልቱ በጺሑ ኣሎ። ኣብ’ቲ ብቕድሚ ትማሊ ዝገበርናዮ ዑደት ድማ፡ ብርክት ዝበሉ ቦታታት ክንበጽሕ ክኢልና ኢና። ንኣብነት፡ ምርኢት ምህዞን ሰንዓን ቁሸት ተማሃሮ፡ ሓደ ካብ’ቲ ኣብ ውሽጢ ቀጽሪ ኤክስፖ ቀሪቡ ዘሎ ንጥፈታት እዩ። ኣብ’ቲ ምርኢት፡ ካብ ኩለን ዞባታት ዝመጽኡ ተመሃሮ ካልኣይ ደረጃ ተሳቲፎም ኣለዉ። ንሳቶም፡ ኣብ ትሕቲ ‘ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር’ ዝተባህለ ማእከል ስልጠና፡ ብኢንጂንየር ፊልሞን ሃብተ ክስልጥኑ ድሕሪ ምጽናሕ፡ ነዚ ናይ ፈስቲቫል ዕድል ተጠቒሞም ዝተፈላለየ ምህዞን ሰንዓን ሒዞም ከቕርቡ በቒዖም ኣለው።

ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር’፡ ብክኢላ ኮምፒዩተር ኢንጂነሪንግ ፊልሞን ሃብተ ዝእለ ኰይኑ፡ ዓመት ምሉእ ብዘይ ምቁራጽ፡ ንተማሃሮ በብደረጃኦም ከሰልጥን ዝጸንሐን ዝቕጽል ዘሎን ማእከል ስልጠና ቴክኖሎጂ እዩ። እቶም ተማሃሮ፡ ብክልሰ ሓሳብን ግብርን እዮም ዝስልጥኑ። እቲ ዝበዝሐ ክፋል ትምህርቶም ድማ፡ ግብራዊ ምህዞ እዩ። እዚ ማለት፡ ንሶፍትዌራትን ካልእ ቴክኒካዊ ነገራትን ኣብ ክንዲ ብክልሰ ሓሳብ ጥራይ ዝመሃሩዎ፡ ብግብሪ እናፈተንዎን እናሰርሕዎን እዮም ዝኸዱ። እዚ ከኣ፡ ነቲ ክእለት ናይ ምህዞኦም ዝያዳ ብቕዓቶም ከጽፍፉን ናብ ዓበይቲ ደረጃ ክበጽሑን ዝሕግዞም እዩ። በዚ ምኽንያት ከኣ፡ ንኣገዳስነት ናይ’ቲ ትምህርቲ ዕዙዝ ይገብሮ።



ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር፡ ምስ ከም ኩባንያ ኤሪ- ሶክን ካልኦት መንግስታውያን መሻርኽቲ ኣካላትን ብምትሕብባር እዩ ተማሃሮኡ ዘሰልጥን። ተማሃሮ ናይ’ዚ ማእከል ስልጠና ቴክኖሎጂ ድማ፡ ኣብ እዋን ስልጠና፡ ሓደ ፕሮጄክት ከቕርቡ’ዮም ዝሕተቱ። ካብ ቀዳማይ ናብ ካልኣይን ልዕሊኡን ዘሎ ደረጃ ንኽሰግሩ ከኣ፡ ተፈቲኖም እዮም ዝሓልፉ። ኣብ ቀዳማይ ደረጃ ዝርከቡ ኣስታት 88 ተመሃሮ ክህልው እንከለው፡ ኣብ ካልኣይን ሳልሳይን ከኣ 34 ተማሃሮ ኣለው። እዚ ፈተና ተፈቲንካ ደረጃታት ናይ ምስግጋር መስርሕ፡ ነቲ ናይ ቴክኖሎጂ ትምህርቲ ተገዲሶምን ዓቲቦምን ክሕዝዎ ዘተባብዖም እዩ።

ኣብ ምርኢት ምህዞን ሰንዓን ቁሸት ተማሃሮ እምበኣር፡ ንሓደ ዓመት ምሉእ ክስልጥኑ ዝጸንሑ ብጉጅለታት ዝተመቓቐሉ ተማሃሮ’ዮም ፍርያቶም ንበጻሕቲ ፈስቲቫል ዘላልዩ ዘለዉ። ንሎሚ ከነላልየኩም መሪጽና ዘለና – ሸውዓተ ካብኣቶም ኰይኖም፡ ዓወት ፍረዝጊ፡ ቢላል ሙጂብራሕማን፡ መዋሂብ ዓብዱራሕማን፡ ሞርያ ሳምሶን፡ ናሆም ኣብራሃም፡ ጴጥሮስ ዓንደማርያምሰሱና ፍጹምን ዝበሃሉ እዮም። ንሳቶም ብኣካዳሚያዊ ትምህርቶም ናብ ታሽዓይ ክፍሊ ሓሊፎም ዘለው ኰይኖም፡ ምስ ጥዕና ዝተኣሳሰር ምህዞ እዮም ኣብ ኣደራሽ ቁሸት ምህዞን ሰንዓን ኣቕሪቦም ዘለዉ።

እዛ በዞም ዝተጠቕሱ ተማሃሮ ቀሪባ ዘላ ምህዞ፡ ንስንኩላን እትሕግዝ ምዕብልቲ ዊልቸር ወይ ዓረብያ እያ። እዞም ተማሃሮ፡ ነታ ዊልቸር፡ በቲ ኣብ ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር ዝተመሃርዎ ግብራዊ ትምህርቲ ተሓጊዞም ከምዘዳለዉዋ’ዮም ዝገልጹ። ንኸዳልዉዋ፡ ኣስታት ክልተ ወርሒ ግዜ ከምዝወሰደሎም የረድኡ። ምህዞኦም ኣብ ፈስቲቫል ኤክስፖ ንህዝቢ ከቕርብዋ ዝኽኣሉ ድማ፡ ኣብ’ቲ ዝተኻየደ ናይ ምጽራይ መስርሕ ተወዳዲራ ስለዘሓለፈት ምዃኑ ይገልጹ።

እታ ዓረብያ ስንኩላን፡ ብዝተፈላለየ ቴክኒካዊ መሳርሒታት ዝማዕበለት እያ። ገለ ካብኡ ንምጥቃስ፡ ክልተ ዓይነት መለለዪ ሰንሰር ዘለዋ ኰይና፡ እዚ ከኣ፡ ብቕድሚትን ድሕሪትን ንዘሎ ነገራት ከተለሊ ይሕግዛ። ከምኡ’ውን ብሓገዝ ባተሪ እትንቀሳቐስ ብምዃና፡ ንነዊሕ መንገዲ ክትከደላ ዕድል እትህብ ምዕብልቲ ዓረብያ እያ። ነታ ዘመናዊት ዓረብያ ፍልይቲ ዝገብራ፡ ስንኩላን ብዘይ ሓገዝን ደገፍን ናይ ካልኦት ሰባት፡ ክጉዓዙላ ዝኽእሉ ብምዃና እያ።

ነታ ምዕብልቲ ዓረብያ ተጠቒሞም ዝጉዓዙ ሰባት፡ ኣብ ኣእዳዎም ሪሞት ምሓዝ ጥራይ እዩ ዘድልዮም። በቲ ሪሞት ተጠቒሞም ከኣ፡ ንጉዕዞኦም ብዘይ ጸገም ክቈጻጸሩን ናብ ዝደለይዎ ኣንፈት ክኸዱን ይኽእሉ። ብተወሳኺ፡ ኣብ ቅድሚኦም ጉድጓድን መዓንቀፍን ምስ ዝጸንሕ፡ እቲ ኣብ ቅድሚት ዘሎ ሰንሰር ናይ’ታ ዓረብያ ስለዝርእዮ፡ ብዘይ ጸገም ክሓልፉ ዕድል ይፈጥረሎም። ብዘይካ’ዚ፡ ብድሕሪት ናይ’ታ ዓረብያ፡ መካይን፡ ኣውቶቡሳትን ካልኦት ተሽከርከርቲን ምስ ዝህልዋ፡ ኣብ ዳሕራዋይ ወገና ዝርከብ ሰንሰር፡ እቲ ዝጥቀመላ ዘሎ ሰብ ነቲ ሓበሬታ ተረዲኡ መንገዱ ከመዓራሪ ኣይጽግሞን።



ዕላማ ናይ’ቶም መሃዝቲ ተማሃሮ፡ ካብ’ዚ ክብ ኢልና ዝገልጽናዮ ሓበሬታ ተበጊስና፡ ብቐሊሉ ንምርድኡ ዘጸግም ኣይኰነን። ንሰብ ሰብ ዘብሎ፡ ንኻልኦት ጽጉማት ወገናት፡ ጸገማቶም ከቃልለሎም ዝኽእል ኣበርክቶን ሓገዝን ምግባር ክሳብ ዝዀነ፡ እዞም ጌና ኣብ ጕዕዞ ትምህርትን ስልጠናን ዝርከቡ ተማሃሮ፡ ህይወት ስንኩላን ዜጋታት ንምቅላል እዮም ብዓቕሞም ተበጊሶም ዘለዉ። በዚ ከኣ፡ ኣብ ኤርትራ ንስንኩላን ወለዲን ኣሕዋትን ክትሕግዞም እትኽእል፡ ብቐሊሉ ድማ ክጥቀምሉ ዕድል ዝህብ ዓረብያ ከዳልዉ ከምዝተበገሱ ብቓላቶም ይሕብሩ።

እቶም ተማሃሮ ንስንኩላን ኣብ ግምት ዘእተወ ምህዞ ኣብ ንኡስ ዕድሜኦም ከቕርቡ ብምኽኣሎም፡ ልዑል ናእዳን ኣድናቖትን ዝግብኦም እዮም። ኣብ መጻኢ ካብ’ዚ ናይ ሎሚ ዓመት ኣቕሪቦምዎ ዘለው ዝበልጽ ምህዞታት ከዳልው ምዃኖም እውን ኣየጠራጥርን። ንሳቶም’ውን ሃሞምን ቀልቦምን፡ ኣብ መጻኢ ዝበለጸ ፍርያት ናይ ምህዞኦም ሒዞም ክቐርቡን ሃገሮም ብፍርያቶም ከማዕብሉን’ዩ ምንዮቶምን ባህጎምን።

ብሓፈሻኡ፡ ኣብ ምርኢት ምህዞን ሰንዓን ቁሸት ፍርያቶም ሒዞም ዝርከቡ ተማሃሮ፡ ንህዝቦምን ሃገሮምን ኣበርክቶ ዘለዎም ኣደነቕቲ ምህዞታት እዮም ኣቕሪቦም ዘለዉ። ናይ ብዙሓት ዓይኒ በጻሕቲ ፈስቲቫል ኤክስፖ ክስሕቡ እውን ኣኽኢሉዎም ኣሎ። እቶም ብዕድመ ንኣሽቱ መሃዝቲ፡ ናይ ጽባሕ ተረከብቲ ሃገር ብምዃኖም፡ ብኹሉ መዳይ ክሕገዙን ሞራላዊ ደገፍ ክረኽቡን ከም ዘለዎም፡ ኣብ’ቲ ኣጋጣሚ ዝረኸብናዮም በጻሕቲ ዘዘኻኸርዎ ለበዋ እዩ። ክኢላን ኣሰልጣኒን ኮምፒዩተር ኢንጂኒየርን መንእሰይ ፊልሞን ሃብተ እውን፡ በቲ ተማሃሮኡ ኣቕሪቦምዎ ዘለዉ ዝተፈላለየ ምህዞታት ዕጉብ ምዃኑ ብምግላጽ፡ እዞም ተማሃሮ ኣብ መጻኢ ካብ’ዚ ንላዕሊ ምሂዞም ከቕርቡ ምሉእ ዓቕሚ ስለዘለዎም፡ ኵሉ ኣካል ቈላሕታ ክገብረሎምን ክሕግዞምን እዩ ተላብዩና።

ኣብ’ቲ ምርኢት፡ ምስ ጥዕና ዝተኣሳሰሩ ብርክት ዝበሉ ምህዞታት ነይሮም እዮም። ብዘይካ እዛ ዝጠቐስናያ ምዕብልቲ ዓረብያ ስንኩላን፡ ብካልኦት ጉጅለ ተማሃሮ ካብ ዝተዳለወት ምህዞ ከም ኣብነት ክንጠቅስ። እታ ምህዞ፡ ንኮሮና ቫይረስን ጽሬትን ኣብ ግምት ካብ ዘእተው ምህዞታት ሓንቲ ኰይና፡ ብሰንሰር ጥራይ ኣለልያ ማይ እተሕጽብ ቡንባን፡ ኣብ ክንዲ ሽጐማኖ ከም መንቀጺ ኣእዳው እተገልግልን እያ። እዛ ምህዞ’ውን ኣብ ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር ብዝሰልጠኑ ተማሃሮ እያ ክትዳሎ ክኢላ ዘላ። ምህዞ ናይ’ዘን ዝተጠቕሳ ክልተ ፍርያት፡ ኣብ መጻኢ ኣብ ውሽጢ ዓዲ ምስ ጥዕና ዝተኣሳሰሩ ምህዞታት ብብዝሒ ክፈርዩን ክዳለዉን ዝከኣል ምዃኑ ዘመስከረ ሓቂ እዩ።

ነዚ ክውን ንምግባር፡ እዚ ስልጠና ክተባባዕን ክምዕብልን ከም ዘለዎ ኣየካትዕን። እቲ ብቐዳምነት ክመጽእ ዘለዎ ግን፡ ወለድን መማህራንን፡ ቅድሚ ዝኣገረ ዝምባለታት ንኣሽቱ ህጻናትን ቈልዑን ከለልዩ ኣለዎም። ካብ’ዚ ተበጊሶም ከኣ፡ ደቆም ኣብ ካልእ ሞያታት መታን ክነጥፉን ክምዕብሉን፡ ጐድኒ ጐድኒ ኣካዳሚያዊ ትምህርቶም ዘድሊ ኩስኳስን ኣድህቦን ክገብሩሎም – ለበዋ ኣየድልዮን። እዚ ምስ ዝግበር፡ እቶም ቈልዑ ዕድመ እናወሰኹ ኣብ ዝኸድሉ እዋን፡ ኣተሓሳስባኦምን ተመኩሮኦምን ብምስፋሕ፡ ዝማዕበለን ዝበለጸን ምህዞታት ከዳልው ኣይሽገሩን። ነዚ ኣብ ግምት ብምእታው ከኣ፡ ዘድልዮም ቀረባትን ሓገዛትን ክግበረሎም ይግባእ።

ኣብ’ዚ ጽሑፍ ዘይተጠቕሱ፡ ኣብ ሮበቲክስ ሰንተር ካብ ዝሰልጠኑ ተማሃሮ ዝተዳለው፡ ምስ ቴክኖሎጂያዊ ምዕባለ ዝተኣሳሰሩ ካልኦት ዓይነት ምህዞታት እውን ኣለው። ነቶም ኣብ’ዚ ዘየቕረብናዮም ዝተረፉ ምህዞታት ንምዕዛብን ርእይቶታትኩም ንምሃብን እምበኣር፡ ብወገንና ናብ ቁሸት ምህዞን ሰንዓን ተማሃሮ ከይድኩም ክትበጽሑን ሞራላዊ ደገፍኩም ክትህቡን ትዕደሙ።

Words Matter: Double Standards in Mainstream Media

In the past few weeks, hundreds of thousands of Eritreans throughout the diaspora came together for the Annual Eritrean Cultural Festival, held at various metropolitan hubs across Europe and North America. This year, the festival—which dates back half a century—was hosted in Seattle, Stockholm, Toronto,
Edmonton, and Giessen.

In order to fully comprehend the ethos of the Eritrean Cultural Festival, it is critical to first examine the circumstances behind its inception. Eritreans are a communal people. It is an essential thread in the elaborate and colorful labyrinth that is our cultural fabric. Communalism -. i.e. culture and ethos of reconciling individual interests and aspirations with that of the large community - is how Eritreans were able to—against all odds—mobilize against and prevail over a much larger and well-resourced aggressor. In short, to separate an Eritrean from his community is the equivalent of cutting a branch from a tree; a slow metaphysical death.

In the early 1970s, pioneering Eritrean immigrants - those who escaped from the atrocities and persecution of the occupationist Ethiopian regime recognized a desperate need for cultural reconnection and community among the diaspora. Many Eritreans who had settled in Europe and North America in hopes of broader economic opportunity were facing xenophobia, racism, language barriers, socioeconomic marginalization, and a substantial education gap. To exacerbate these precarious conditions, many Eritrean immigrants were now—for the first time ever—separated from their families, their land, and their community. As such, members of the diaspora began organizing festivals as way for Eritreans to reconnect, and experience the warmth of their people in an otherwise foreign and in hospitable land as well as to follow events and establish bridges with the liberation struggle back home. While the Eritrean festival has evolved over the years to include cultural exhibits, musical performances, and dancing, the spirit of the festival remains unchanged.

This year, the festival was hit by a violent wave of attacks, carried out by an obscure rogue group bent on acts of vandalism and terror. This group—which claims to oppose the Eritrean government—has preponderant membership of non-Eritreans politically affiliated with the TPLF and uses violence and intimidation against unarmed, and peaceful festival goers. This rogue group destroyed tents housing cultural and historical exhibits; gruesomely beat citizens with metal poles—leaving one elderly gentleman with his head bashed open; mercilessly stabbed festival participants; and recklessly set attendees’ vehicles ablaze.

If the universal definition of terrorism is
the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims,
why then are the gangs who terrorized our cultural festival not classified as such?

Why are they being hailed as “activists” and “defenders of human rights?” This is not human rights. This is textbook terrorism.

It is quite hypocritical for news outlets, including Agence France Presse (AFP) and France24, to dub these actors “activists” and “defenders of human rights.”

For example, when French citizens took to the streets to protest higher fuel taxes in 2019, the AFP derided the Yellow Vest protests as “rebellion.” France24 characterized the movement as an “insurgency,” that was
largely shapeless, leaderless, and with no clear ideological bent.
When protests shook the United States following the tragic murder of George Floyd, news outlets called the demonstrators—a large contingent of which were African Americans—“thugs.”

The instances cited above do not in fact have moral or legal equivalence with the acts of vandalism and terror perpetrated against peaceful Eritrean Festivals by the rogue group in question. The latter is bereft of economic or civil rights issues.

The non-symmetrical comparison has been invoked so as to amplify the hypocrisy of certain mainstream media outlets. The unfathomable fact is protesters who oppose police brutality and economic inequality are labeled “thugs” and “insurgents”, while ruthless, anti-Eritrean hooligans are championed as heroes.

Regrettably, it appears that this selective nomenclature used to classify various “protest activities” is rooted in shifting political agendas rather than grounded, objective reporting. Furthermore, it appears that any display of dissent regardless of constitutionality or legality, that poses a perceived threat to the stability of Western nations is swiftly condemned. Yet brutal attacks that pose a very clear and existential threat to our community are hailed as heroic.



Additionally, several outlets have audaciously referred to the assault as “clashes.” This is a gross misrepresentation of what actually occurred. “Clashes” imply that the other party fought back, but this could not be further from the truth. In all instances, the rogue group violently attacked unsuspecting Festival goers.

Words matter and the media have a grave responsibility to report ethically and accurately, devoid of political or ideological bias.

Let one thing be known: the recent violent acts by rogue groups have nothing to do with dissident views or the expression of such through nonviolent protests. In this perspective, Eritrean communities will not tolerate bullying, intimidation, or acts of terrorism against peaceful and defenseless festival-goers. Justice will be served.
