Eritrea has been neutral on this conflict but that could change if Abiy gets desperate and invites the defeated junta to attack Amaras from behind. So far, he doesn’t seems to take that chance that would certainly invites a retaliation from Eritrea. I don’t think he is ready to upset PIA and face his wrath.
We made it clear what we feel about Abiy’s not well thought of action when he was forced to sign the surrender deal with the force he completely defeated. Deal gets signed with two frocea who have achieved equal military goals. However, Abiy signed with the force that was completely destroyed. Why? What did he gain? Nothing. Now, Amaras who were betrayed by him are ready to hang him. Eritrea also was a victim of Abiy’s betrayal so are Afaris. Thus, if he goes, I don’t think anyone would shade tears. Regardless, unlike you agames, we still are hopeful that for the sake of their country, Ethiopias come to a round table and resolve this conflict peacefully before it is too late.
