Senait was born in Asmara, Eritrea. Right after the Dergue took power, she left for Sudan. Her paper was made ready for her to migrate to the USA, but she chose to join the armed struggle. At first, right after the military training, she was assigned with the medical department. For much of time however, she was in the culture department. Senait was a humble and hard working person. She loved playing the guitar and singing. She was very popular with the song that had the following words: “All of me to you”. Fired by her words, the fighters used to add: “All of me is yours; my blood and my bones are yours; for you my nation; for you my people”. In 1987, Senait married a fellow fighter Beyene Russom. Her daughters are: Weini (14); Miriam (13) and Maina (7) In 1994, she was elected as a member of central committee of the National Union of Eritrean Women.

When her husband became Eritrea’s Ambassador to Kenya, she moved to Nairobi with him. There, she completed her high school studies. And when she returned to Asmara to started working with the Ministry of Tourism. The UNDP provided her with funds to continue her evening classes in accounting. When she was taken to prison for unknown reasons, she was with her brother Erimias Debessai (papayo). During that period, she was on her 2nd year at university.

As a matter of fact, the excerpt harms the subject by raising a couple of arguments for a question (suspicion.) Edu has failed big time on this.

First of all, UNDP got no fund to sponsor individuals’ scholarship (‘evening studies’.)

Second of all, ‘Senait’ had never been one of UNDP’s staffs (as she was working in a tourism office) … even wrongly to assume that she received some sort of offers for ‘up-grading.’

So, why did she get paid for her evening studies or in that ‘pretext’?

እውነቱ ያ ሆኖ ሳለ ... በነፍስ ማጥፋትና እጅግ ከፍተኛ በሆነ ሀገርን እና ህብረተሰብን ሊጎዳ በሚችል ወንጀል ተሳታፊ ካልሆኑ በስተቀር የሴቶች የእስር ዘመን ቢበዛ ከኣንድ ወይም ከሁለት ዓመት መብለጥ የለበትም ብዬ በግሌ አምናለሁ። ይህን የምለው ደግሞ ከወንዶች አሳንሼ ሰለምመለከታቸው ሳይሆን ተፈጥሮዋዊ ባህሪያቸውንና ፍላጎታቸውን በመመልከት ነው። ለሴቶች (ለእናቶቻችን እና ለእህቶቻችን) ያለኝ ክብርም እንዳለ ሆኖ ማለት ነው።

With the utmost respect brother, this kind of thinking in the junta people's minds is nothing but space or opportunity to create more havoc.

Your humanity, is misinterpreted as naivete. I'm saying this out of the Eritrean horrible experience for having trusted these people, not once, but many times, to our detriment.

Put them in their place, but always watch out!

While Eden googles her bio, let me introduce you to Senait's husband. He is called Semere and he is Eritrea's Ambassador to Kenya - the one who is arguing with Amb Dina Mufti. Senait has been imprisoned incommunicado with out appearing in court for 22 years. Apparently in the month she was imprisoned, she was due to appear in court to divorce her husband. The husband was represented in court by one the governments high security officials in previous divorce court hearings as the ambassador was not in Asmara.

Hello Brother Zmeselo; thank you so much for the comment. I see your point clearly as we all are enduring some sore feeling / experience for being betrayed (of course, with varying degrees.) After this seemingly irremediable war calamity, let see if our ‘positive hope’ serves as a good opportunity for them to return to innocence or as you said: misinterpreted as naivete and a fertile ground for creating more havoc.

In fact, I have seen it some years ago but didn’t know that the subject that we’re discussing here (Senait) is his wife ... as the divorce is not yet finalized.
