This could be a precursor of devaluing the Ethiopian Currency itself, or even to avoid any sort of devaluation what so ever.
The government was accused of engaging in a black-market procrument of foreign currency recently, well accusations are endless, though. But it is still pausible to think that the government may have an interest to buy gold with a higher price domestically and earn more of a foreign currency to overcome of the shortage it faces currently.
Gold diggeres have a reason to celebrate today.
