If our gov't doesn't step up, others will keep eating our lunch.

Post by Zmeselo » 06 Mar 2023, 13:41

What was missing from PIA's most anticipated recent interview on domestic-related issues was the lack of any indications if some of the restrictions imposed on investment, construction, banking, etc. [related to emergency situations that the country was in] were finally lifted and the country will soon be open for business. Nah.

We should insist on putting these questions forward, in the 4th part of the interview. This is the most critical issue of our time. Our government has saved our country from foreign threats, now we must save our country from potential wrong economic policies.

The public is expecting to hear concrete plans for 2023 and beyond to uplift Eritrea’s economy fundamentally, in the final part of PIA’s interview🤞

Mulugheta Abraha, author of the 11-Year-Old Man a very well-written book that tells the history of Eritrea through his personal journey. A must read book, from the father of the EriAm Sisters. His detailed journey to join the struggle & how we got here.

One of the EriAm's (Haben), covering Marvin Gaye:

Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) lyrics:

Rockets, moon shots
Spend it on the have-not's
Money, we make it
Before we see it, you take it

Oh, make me wanna holler
The way they do my life
(Yeah) Make me wanna holler
The way they do my life
This ain't living, this ain't living
No, no baby, this ain't living
No, no, no, no

Inflation, no chance
To increase finance
Bills pile up sky high
Send that boy off to die

[Chorus]
Oh, make me wanna holler
The way they do my life (He-ey-ey)
Yeah, make me wanna holler
The way they do my life
Oh, baby

Hang ups, let downs
Bad breaks, set backs
Natural fact is
Oh, honey that I can't pay my taxes

Oh, make me wanna holler
The way they do my life
(Yeah) Make me wanna holler
And throw up both my hands (Ow!)

Crime is (Woo!) increasing
Trigger happy policing
Panic is spreading
God knows where we're heading

[Outro]
Oh, baby
Make me wanna holler, they don’t understand
Yeah, make me wanna holler, they don’t understand

Hi,

Your issu bluntly told you that he failed in every aspect be it on energy, water reservation, bisha gold mining etc... He publicly admiited his failue in his third so-called interview. He said temahirna... after his 32 years rule.

Of course you zombies won't buy what he said, you will call issu and say to him:

No god issu, ayfalkan hager tHenbeb alla nbererlna.

The response of his asz liiikers here:

No respected god issu, tegagikha eritra THinbeb alla because of your farsighted leadership. Literally translated, no god issu, thanks to you, eritrea is progressing.

Hey!

He publicly told the zemeslos and the fiyamettas that his regime has failed in every aspect. But his zombies are telling us here that eritra tHnbeb alla or eritrea is progressing. Aren't they contradicting what their god is saying?

The evil agame Kerenite/eden/Sarcasm/Dark energy/AbyssiniaLady/Educator...etc
(Damn, he's got more nicknames than Elizabeth Taylor had husbands Lol)

The Adwa fool had actually thought that he could slave his way to his Abay Tigray Republic dream, but he soon found out that being a willful slave has a price tag of one million souls, which he cheerfully paid at the altar of Neo-colonialism, but only to be told that it was all a bad dream and he needs to get a Dream Catcher to sleep well.

I would rather hear the blunt truth than the kind of 'double digit' economic miracle that was used to be claimed by your illiterates while the majority of your people have subsisted on donated wheat......if we gauge Eritrea's economy by your standard, Eritrea has managed to feed itself, educate its youth, expand health care, provide potable water, able to maintain a huge standing army, and waging a successful war to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation .....relying solely on its meager resources, and managing to do all these while under tremendous external pressure........My friend, we're not counting here how many trucks showed up at our doorstep with the ferenjis generous donation. Your standard and ours of measuring our economical success has a stratosphere kind of gap..........

Yes, we've failed, for our dreams and aspirations for Eritrea is Utopian........a concept your Agame brain will never grasp.

PIA's seems to speak mostly about what ought to be, instead of what is in these interviews, particularly when it comes to the economy. I think what Eritreans would like to hear, going forward, is concrete and clear plans from the government that would also offer them an opportunity to play a big role in our economy's renaissance. Speaking about regional economic integration and cooperation without strong economy is meaningless........

There shouldn't be no excuse now from implementing concrete steps to uplift the country's economy from what it finds itself at present.
Although many areas of the economy could be revilitised in the current atmosphere, one particular area that I believe needs special attention is the fishing indudtry. PIA has mentioned the potential of harvesting 80k tonnes of fish annually, however, he said due to lack material, human and financial resources it won't materialise for the forseable future.
Leaving the shortcomings aside, the government needs to get soft loan from China, invest the money in the fishing industry by training manpower, purchasing few fishing boats for starters, readying all necessary facilities and infrastructure and kickstarting this sector as a matter of urgency. The revenue from fishing can pay off the loan in no time.
The country needs to move on from these outdated notion of self-reliance. It won't get us anywhere.

My take on the 3rd interview of PIA is that he was too modest when evaluating the economic situation in our country. Granted there are many financial problems in Eritrea that must be addressed, and I believe they will be addressed soon. Be as it may, however, there have been activities of improvement utilizing the limited resources of the country. The modernization of both the Massawa and Assab ports including the renovation of the Assab Burie (Ethiopia) road, and the initiation of the Asmara Ring Road, part of which has been asphalted so far. Many bus services have been introduced to villages and localities that hitherto had never seen any form of modern transportation, all at government-subsidized ticket fares. Although PIA said he was not satisfied, the construction of many dams scattered about in Eritrea is not to be dismissed as routine. The construction of the Massawa Airport is going to come handy when the economic activities of the free zone port blossom. Bottom line, Eritrea's future economic activity is just around the corner now that the Hasadat Weyane's servitude to their masters is over.

I get your point but Eritrea has already lost 25 years of productivity and development. We shouldn't be complacent by tapping our backs for the mini projects accomplished thus far.
Eritrea is endowed with natural resources including minerals and a long coastal line. In my opinion, the goverment needs to embark on multi million projects by securing financial loans from China. This has twofold benefits : creating jobs for citizens and attracking investors (obviously with the right, workable and conducive laws). There is no time to be lost now.

I agree with your comments brother. The government has to open up and make investment easily accessible per the laws and regulations of Eritrean codes. But what I was attempting to address was PIA's personality. He has to come out from the usual modesty "We haven't accomplished this and that" to "We have accomplished this and that and we are working on this and that project". We got to get out of our normal Eritrean manners of not sounding bombastic about our achievements and get into the reality of running businesses as they are supposed to be run to make progress.
We can't run a business through a casual conversation like the following between two buddies:
Zeyneb: "ኣየ መሓዛይ! ቁምነገር መቸም መሊኡክን'ዩ፡ ኣየ ልቦና"!
Abrehet: "ዋይ 'ዘንሳንዳይሲ፡ ትሕሽኦ ደኣ፡ ልቦና ደኣ ኣይንሕሾ ኣይንሓምቆ"
The above statements are an example of being modest and humble, a characteristic of our society. While that is a culture to be proud of, it won't work in the business world.
