Sudan hands over 55 detained militaries to Ethiopia
Khartoum and Bahir Dar are one step closer to reconciliation in the Al-Fashaga border conflict - a region of very fertile land rich in oil reserves located in northeastern Sudan and legally under Khartoum's control, although in practice inhabited by Amharas of Ethiopian nationality. The exchange of 62 prisoners between the Sudanese armed forces and their Ethiopian counterpart at the Al Qalabat Pass - close to the line separating the two countries - has made this clear.
PUBLICIDAD
The press release issued by Sudan after the operation on Monday gave details of the exchange: the parties, meeting in Metemma under the auspices of the international Red Cross, handed over the 62 prisoners - 53 soldiers and Ethiopians and nine Sudanese individuals, including seven civilians and two military security personnel - on Sunday in an atmosphere of "positive cooperation and coordination between the two sides".
While the Sudanese authorities announced the exchange - and even the head of the Military Intelligence Division headed by the Second Infantry Division, Colonel Suileiman Abu Halima, and the Armed Forces spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nabil Abdullah, said that this step demonstrated the intentions of the Sudanese Armed Forces to cooperate with international protocols and to safeguard human rights- Ethiopia was slow in notifying them. Addis Ababa did not make any information public until after midday (15:00 in the African country).

Sudan/Egypt is not our real enemy... that is a misconception made by ethiopianist elites
our real enemies are those in Ethiopia not outside ethiopia
thus I advised for such peace deal since 2020

Sudan and Ethiopia exchange handover of dozens of prisoners on the eastern border
On Sunday, Sudan and Ethiopia completed the exchange of dozens of prisoners, including civilians, under the supervision of the International Red Cross.
The Sudanese army spokesman, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, told “Sudan Tribune” that the Sudanese government handed over to its Ethiopian counterpart 53 soldiers who had sought refuge in Sudan during the armed confrontations between the Ethiopian forces and the Tigray Liberation Front.(((Samre)))
"The Sudanese government received 9 citizens, including two soldiers, as part of the prisoner exchange process that took place in the Qalabat area on the border between the two countries," he added.
The Ethiopian forces kidnapped civilians last August from within Sudanese territory near the Setit River.
On Saturday, informed sources revealed to “Sudan Tribune” joint security talks between the Sudanese and Ethiopian security committees, with the support and backing of leaders in the Amhara region, and the Ethiopian consul in Gedaref, Ambassador Antana Tariko Falaka. It led to military and security understandings to exchange the release of a number of shepherds, livestock and weapons.
The Ethiopian authorities also handed over 71 heads of Sudanese camels, which belong to a senior camel breeder, Hassan Jumaa.
The handover took place in the Ethiopian "Abrajira" area opposite the Sudanese "Wad Umm Tawakul" area in the border locality of Quraisha.
