Tigray is in a limbo, rejected by its mother (Ethiopia) and its neighbour (Eritrea). Not able to survive on its own, Tigray's best option is to reintegrate itself within Ethiopia, mastering to speak fluent Amharic and terminating this foolish desire to master a rather difficult language, Eritrean Tigrigna, that it cannot master anyways.
The brain cannot handle constant ambivalens, that is why it continuously needs to make decisions, tea or coffee, with or without sugar, with or without milk, and so on and so on, it cannot remain in between things, in a limbo. Similarly, a society cannot handle constant ambivalens and a life in a limbo. That is why Tigray needs to make a quick collective decision, to fully reintegrate itself into the Ethiopian body politick, without being discouraged by the disdainful and hurtful rejection.
Re: Rejected by both Ethiopia and Eritrea
Correction!
- Tigray is the mother of Ethiopia! Fact!
- Tigray is the spirit and soul or the engine of Ethiopia !
- Tigrigna has been spoken well prior to Eritrea and there is no Tigrigna that you call " Eritrea Tigrigna". Even Tigrayans who live in the present day Eritrea speak different dialects of Tigrigna. Fact!

Justo, you nailed it, one of Agame's main problems is ambivalence. They are not sure of their identity. They can't make up their minds as to whether they are Ethiopians, Agames, or Eritreans. But as you have said, they have been rejected by all. They are a society in the middle of amalgamation. In short, they are half-Amharized. They know that they are being absorbed. And they hate that. That is why they rail against Amharas so much. Besides, half of Agames have Amhara blood. Alula Solomon, Getachew Reda, Alem G/Wahid, Getachew Assefa, Abay Woldu, and countless other TPLF leaders are Amhara. In the past 27 years, hundreds of thousands of Ethiopian soldiers from all ethnic groups have fathered Agame kids. Before that the Derg. They are ethnically a foocked up people. What a mess!

Yeah, Sesame, it is easier to handle constant rejection than constant ambivalens. That is why they need to look past the disdainful rejection, it might hurt their feeling and lower their sperm-count, but it is not going to kill them. A constant ambivalens on the other hand will mercilessly paralyse them. A society cannot handle the stress of constant ambivalens. I know Ethiopians do not want them, but they shouldn't be discouraged by that.sesame wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 18:23Justo, you nailed it, one of Agame's main problems is ambivalence. why is then the mother is so determined to fight against her own child is 1 million question? Could you say about it?
Or, do you think Tigray didn't (aspire) to fight against what you called her own child? If it did fight, then there is nothing more to prove the alleged ambivalence, killing your futile claim at its root.
Else, if you mean it didn't fight or aspire thereof, then you have to lecture us once again why then it did to train that much of military power, over 200 K by many estimates, including such special commandos you see in the following video? Why was such a massive military power as a regional government of a federal state?
Re: Rejected by both Ethiopia and Eritrea
Brother Justo,
In a serious note though here is my two cents:
Ambivalence denotes (at least in my opinion) a psychological tug-of-war between opposing evaluations- my desire to have a junk food more often vs my health, for instance. Using the automatic setting of my camera vs the manual one (effectiveness vs enhanced quality of resolution).....Simply, life is full of ambivalence. Yet these opposing evaluations are dynamic and should resolve themselves with time.
Even by my own limited understanding of the word - ambivalence - I wouldn't say that is the right word that could best describe the Agames. If you stay for almost half a century in a kind of state the Agames are in, the right word that would fit them should be ossification- could be mental, cultural, political, economical......
And I'm afraid, what is unfolding in Tigray right now is the sum of all these deficiencies!
Cheers!

I agree bro qindibu, life is full of choices, and ambivalence comes into play when you cannot make up your mind, cannot settle on alternative A or B, by either suspending decisions or trying to achieve the impossible and realise both choices at the same time. When this goes on for centuries, one ends up getting ossified in the process. And the greatest danger is when people stop paying you attention, when both sides reject you, when both options close down on you, when alternative A is not available and alternative B is not available either. This is the reality of Tigray today. Best option then might be crawling back to mamma's bosom despite massive rejections
