Arsenal now face a major battle to sign Alexander Isak with Manchester United and Liverpool both believed to be keen on the Real Sociedad star.
That’s according to The Sunday Mirror https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ (13/03, p67), who claim that Isak is attracting more and more Premier League interest.
United are allegedly resigned to losing out on Erling Haaland, believing he is joining rivals Manchester City instead.
Haaland isn’t the only Scandinavian attacker with huge potential though, as Real Sociedad star Isak is exciting too.
United are believed to be keen on Isak in a deal worth around £60million, but the report adds that Liverpool are also interested.
The main rumour surrounding Isak has been with Arsenal, who are desperate for a big striker signing this summer.
Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both out of contract this summer and Mikel Arteta may need two or even three strikers brought in.
Spanish newspaper SPORT claim https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/02/24/r ... barcelona/ that Arsenal have made contact with Isak’s representatives in the hope of thrashing out a deal.
That will now become very complicated with United seemingly ready to spend big on Isak this summer.
We can’t see a deal with Liverpool happening though. They just splashed the cash on Luis Diaz, adding him to Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in a star-studded attack.

Blowing more cash on Isak just doesn’t really make sense for Liverpool right now, certainly not unless somebody leaves this summer.
Arsenal may be able to convince Isak if they clinch a top four spot, and you have to say that the Gunners look more likely to reach the Champions League than United do right now.
That fourth Champions League could be vital to any hopes of signing Isak, who has been branded ‘exceptional’ by Gary Lineker.
Tall, strong, quick and with quick feet, Isak is a huge talent at 22 but has only managed four league goals in 22 games this season.
For £60million, United and Arsenal would be looking for Isak to really develop as a goalscorer over the coming years, especially if he’s seen as an alternative to Haaland.
