has ODA award switched to neftegna language?

Post by or1 » 09 Mar 2022, 11:47

ODA award is an award for oromo music and movies. i remember in 2019 it was still in afaan oromoo. then they started to do it in afaan oromoo and amharic. this year it is in amharic with little afaan oromoo. what is wrong with the organizers? this is oromo award. why ethiopian elites are addicted to neftegna language? the same with tigre elites. they think they miss something if they don't do everything in amharic. is it because of some pus$y or is it money?

It is funny

To you all amhara people are just “neftegnas” in fact you just hate amhara people and dont want amhara people to exist you are a neo nazi. Especially Arsi Neo Nazi we know none of your ancestors fought in the battle of Adwa. Nobody tells you to speak amharic so why you do it? I know arsi racists still use amaregna to insult amhara people

Btw Hanculu was wearing Neftegna Clothes on Battle of Adwa it is not oromo.

Weyto means Welayta.

The Weyto Welayatan Wolams migrated to Gojjam Amhara and Gojjam Agew changing the phenotypes of Abysinnians to look like Omites. I am not Weyto.

Btw NO Oromo in Arsi Hararghe Bale Guji Borana Welega ever celebrates ADWA DAY. It was only Tulama Shawa Gobena Hanculu Hundessa who popularized Adwa Day for other Oromos. Not one time i ever saw hararghe oromo celebrate Adwa. And not one of meneliks generals came from Bale Arsi Hararghe. Only the Tulama and Selale Clans of Shewa were with Menelik.

You better try to understand the organizer and support her instead of badmouthing her. Beshatu media is trying hard to help diversify our highly Amharic dominated media landscape. Until now she organized Oda Award in cooperation with Oromia region as she needs the funds of the regional government but she is trying to survive without government money.

Let me try to explain what she is struggling with. All the other big Awards in Ethiopia such as Gumma Award, Leza Award, Addis Music Award etc. are all financed by the private sector and all are promoting almost exclusively Amharic movies and music. There is no Award for non Amharic medias for luck of support from the private sector. That is also the reason that 99% the private TV channels and private Radios in Ethiopia including religious ones are all in Amharic. It looks like the private sector is allergic to any diversification and wants to use exclusively Amharic. Their "official" reason is that the private sector don't want to pay for the same Ad multiple times in multiple languages and so they prefer to pay one Ad to reach everyone.

In the last years, Beshatu tried to use exclusively Afan Oromo but seem to realize that the Award didn't get the necessary attention from the main stream media. It seems she hopes now to draw more attention by using Amharic and also by including other languages in the Award. I'm almost sure that Amharic movies and music will soon be included in Oda Award. Her ultimate goal is of course to be able to stand on her feet and finance the Award exclusively through Ads by the private sector just like the other Amharic based Awards. Do you understand her struggle and why she is forced to switch to Amharic?

We all should encourage her and others who are attempting to diversify our media landscape. We have over 60 TV channels including religion ones but except for the government run channels the rest are almost exclusively in Amharic. This doesn't reflect the diversity of our country. If only an outsider looks at our TV and Radio stations he/she would never believe Ethiopia is a country of over 80 languages. The private sector too should be encouraged to support diversification and stop their allergic attitude towards anything none-Amharic.

Listen to what she is saying.
