Why is Abiy moving away from the Unitarian camp?

Post by Eripoblikan » 01 Feb 2022, 00:42

Here are some possible scenarios:

1. The economic cost of the war is too high and he has decided the desire of the Unitarian camp to march to Mekelle is just plain crazy.

2. Irregular armed groups such as Fanno are getting so strong that they threaten his seat of power.

3. The West is working behind the scenes pressuring Abiy to move away from Isaias and the Unitarian camp the Eritrean leader claims to support.

4. He has planned to use the current war to weaken the northern elites and he thinks he's achieved it. He can sell this to his former Oromo base by combining it with the release of Jawar and his associates.

Abiy does not look serious about peaceful resolution of the civil war in Tigray and Oromia as far as Isaias is on his back. However, as he continuous to target the leadership of TPLF/TDF using drones and starving the people and preparing to reenter to Tigray he is pretending that he is interested in peace just to rebuild his tarnished image.

Probably so.

Deceit has been the norm in Abyssinian politics for centuries.

All are good possibilities but # 4 is where the beef is. Abiy is switching his horse. He used the Amara horse to eradicate and bury his top opponents, the TPLF and Tigray forces. Now that is done with, he must concentrate and consolidate the Oromo factor. it is not without reason the release of like Jawar, Bekele Geriba, the return and the interest in politics of Lemma Megersa and so. The oromo thinks this their turn to bend the country to the point of breaking and they never believed Abiy is on their side, Abiy knows this and he was buying his time to show them that he is with them and he did. if you think TPLF was bad, watch out for the Oromo elites once they are done consolidate their position. The only people on the way are the people of Amara. I will think the Amara will fight to the end. As far As Abiy, he used them for what he needed and he is throwing them like used condom. Abiy is the wrong leader at the wrong time.

Abiy has never been a unitarist - this is just the TPLF's demagogue or blanket attack of Amhara as they always do. He is an ethnocentric and is a tribal politician all his life. What has he changed since he assumed power? Nothing, the same TPLF both in content and characters. The only difference, is replacing Tigrigna speaking woyane with uncultured Oromogina speaking ኬኛ. He delivered two more ethnic ክልል. If TPLF knew what Abiy Ahmed would be now, they would never escape to Tigray. I am not sure even the ገረድ ብአዴን would allow him to be the first worst criminal PM- ስልጣን በብርጭቆ የተሰጠው ህጻን መሪ.

Although his calculus will finally backfire on him, his underlying plan for the outset was <weaken the northern elites and he thinks he's achieved it>. But this is a formidable and uphill task for the Oromuma to trick and get it its way. I am afraid Abiy Ahmed would be a liability on the Oromo - innocent Oromo inspired by the fiction of OLF will pay the heavy price for all the loss caused by OLF and Orommuma.
