I have not deeply followed about the case of Mr. Assange but it is essentially about the classified documents he purportedly releases (released) to the public using his Wikileak service, under the premise that the public has the right to know what is being undertaken by their government in their name.
According to the Wikipedia entry about him these documents included, but not limitted to:
, which are all controversial issues, if not outright bogus and hence I feel that the public has the right to know the why. These leaks included the Baghdad airstrike Collateral Murder video (April 2010),[4][5] the Afghanistan war logs (July 2010), the Iraq war logs (October 2010), and Cablegate (November 2010)
His appeal to not to be extradited to the US to face espionage charges were rejected today in the UK and he could be sent to the US any time, at least theoretically.
I asked myself if the NOMORE movement could also coordinate its campaign with the campaign HANDS OFF ASSANGE and make itself stronger and more global, empowering itself further?
We could find a potential coalition partner in the movement which is a campaign for press fredom, if I understand it well.
We are demanding an end to interference of foreign powers into our internal affairs.
The second point I wanted to raise is related to a point I read on the Facebook post of Obbo Taye Dandea Aredo, which essentially said Africans shouldn't be dependent on US-Dollar or British Pound to trade among themselves. If this could be remedied there is a big potential of reducing the problem of foreign currency dependencies of the African nations, at the same time reducing the demand for these currencies from else where. For goods and services traded among the Africans themselves there is a huge potential of saving the foreign currency exspenditure that could be used for trades with the rest of the world.
This could also be another source of empowerment in my view. An economist on here can correct me.
