Egyptian government arms and electronic battalions flounder in describing Sudan's coup -
The hashtag “#Sudan” topped the list of the most circulated on Twitter in Egypt, in the wake of the military coup against power in the country and the expulsion of their civilian partners from power and the arrest of officials led by Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, amid reports of all communications interruption in Sudan, and there is no confirmation officially so.
The media arms of the ruling Egyptian regime initially welcomed the developments in Sudan, then showed clear confusion, especially after the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement calling on “all the sisterly Sudanese parties, within the framework of responsibility and restraint, to give priority to the higher interest of the country and national consensus.”
The Egyptian tweeters accompanied this media coverage of the pro-regime websites, mocking their insistence on refusing to describe what is happening in Sudan as a coup. The owner of the “Mokh” account commented on the coverage of the “Al-Youm Al-Sabaa” website, which is owned by the Egyptian intelligence, describing what is happening as “correcting the situation in Sudan,” saying that “the Egyptian media is tweeting alone. #Sudan.
The electronic battalions also attacked Hamdok and his government, accusing him of working for Ethiopia. But after what appeared to be the authorities’ instructions, the regime’s deputy, Mahmoud Badr, tweeted: “We in Egypt did our experience… which we were satisfied with as a people and chose it by our own will more than once, whether in the June 30 revolution or in the constitutional referendum and then in the election of President Sisi twice… We do not want to impose our experience on anyone, nor do we export it to anyone… All we wish for for the brothers in #Sudan is stability and peace.”
Nashat Al-Daihi, in his program “Paper and Pen”, on “Ten” channel, dealt with the matter very carefully, avoiding any positive or negative description of the President of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, declaring a state of emergency in all parts of the country, dissolving the Sovereignty Councils and Ministers, and a commitment to What is stated in the constitutional document.
Al-Daihi said: "All our wishes to all parties are calm and success, and to leave Sudan to safety." He contented himself with reading the statement of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, which avoided taking sides, and the statements of the African Union, the United States and the European Union, and recalled the depth of the relationship between Egypt and Sudan.
As for the Egyptian tweeters, they had a different opinion, away from the confusion of the regime’s media and battalions, and they linked the coup of July 3, 2013 in their country, and what Sudan is witnessing, warning of what they described as the Egyptian scenario.
The account of the “Egyptian Revolutionary Council” attacked the military regimes, saying: “# Al-Burhan coup… The Egyptian Revolutionary Council confirms that what happened in the previous 10 years in various forms in Egypt, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Tunisia and Algeria confirms the impossibility of a real change in the existence of this doctrine and composition of the Arab armies. . #Sudan_coup.
And political science professor Khalil al-Anani wrote: “Whoever makes half a revolution digs his grave with his own hands; A historical saying that we live with sound and image in Egypt, Tunisia and Sudan. #Sudan_coup.
And the owner of the “Free Egyptian” account tweeted: “Those who said about June 30, 2013 in Egypt a revolution
They are the ones who said about what happened in Sudan 2019 revolution… Egypt 2013 military coup with full elements… Sudan 2019 military coup with full elements… What is happening in Sudan today is a consolidation of the hegemony of the military and those behind them, but among us there are those who love illusions. #We all_pay_the_wish.
And the “I am a citizen” account stated: “Do not be surprised,# Sudan_coup... Saied (Tunisian President Qais Saeed) did it before in Tunisia with the support of the military, and the world did not move a finger, and before him Sisi (Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi) did it in Egypt and was killed Thousands of his people have been imprisoned and tens of thousands have been imprisoned, and the world supports his crimes... and here is the proof and his council drooling over the authority, and they arrest the comrades of their coup against al-Bashir (the ousted Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir)... and the state of the world has come to an end.”
The blogger Hossam Al-Arbawi chanted: “Down with the rule of the military. #Sudan #Egypt".
