Talks brought together the Commander of the Sudanese Land Forces, Lieutenant-General Essam Mohamed Hassan, with an American official, on strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
This came when the Commander of the Sudanese Ground Forces, Lieutenant-General Essam Mohamed Hassan, received, on Thursday, General Stephen Townsend, Commander of the Unified Joint Task Force in the Horn of Africa of the US Military Command in Africa (AFRICOM).
A statement issued by the military media, a copy of which was received by Al-Ain News, stated that the meeting touched on ways to enhance military cooperation between the armed forces and the AFRICOM leadership, which is witnessing a remarkable development in recent times.
The statement added that the mission of the unified joint task force in the Horn of Africa is to conduct operations in the mixed joint operations area to enhance the ability of partner countries to enhance regional security and stability and eliminate conflict.
It is also concerned with providing support to enable partner countries to improve national and regional stability and security, according to the same source.
At the end of last September, the United States of America stressed the importance of cooperation between the authority's partners for the success of the political transition process in Sudan, and for the country to remain within its position in the international system.
