Ethiopia is deliberately starving its own citizens! The world should apply whatever pressure it can to force it to stop

Post by gearhead » 09 Oct 2021, 03:14

It is almost a year since Abiy Ahmed, the prime minister of Ethiopia, launched a “law enforcement” operation against the government of the northern region of Tigray, which he accused of rebellion. Since the beginning, the ensuing conflict has been marked by war crimes. Late last year in the city of Axum, for instance, Eritrean troops fighting alongside Ethiopian forces murdered hundreds of civilians, mostly men and boys. Some were lined up and shot in the back. Others were gunned down as they came out of church or murdered while lying in bed in hospital. And the Tigrayans have been accused, among other atrocities, of raping and killing Eritrean refugees in un camps.

Horrifying as these crimes are, they are now being eclipsed by an even more heinous one: a deliberate attempt by the Ethiopian government to starve its own citizens. Since the fighting broke out Tigray has suffered an increasingly restrictive blockade by government forces. Since July it has received only a fraction of the food needed to keep its 6m inhabitants alive, hardly any fuel and no medical supplies at all. More than 5m people do not have enough to eat. Some 400,000 of those are facing what aid agencies call “catastrophic” hunger—the last step on the path to mass starvation. Aid workers compare the crisis to Ethiopia’s famine of the 1980s, when 400,000-700,000 died.

What is unique about this so called mass starvation?

Allegedly people are dying massively but we don't see any picture of a single individual that is dying in the said way. This can only happen in the 21st century media scum, there is no entry in their dictionary for the word disgrace.

UN should take actions against Abiy Ahmed and Issayas Afeworki. Talk is not enough. UN could send peace keeping troops like they did in The Congo. They could organize air free zone for Tigray and Wollo, where food aid could go to the people. The war can continue if Abiy ahmed and Issayas are not ready for peace. No one should starve children, women or old people, who are not part of the war as they are not carrying guns or are not in the war. They can support TPLF or another group or even PP. This should be done through information campaign to convince the people that a political people is better for them. In Tigray, Eritrean troops have destroyed all infrastructure. so people cannot work in factories or farm their land. Eritrea and Ethiopian troops have burned down food stores, salughtered farm animals so that the farmers could not use them. There is a systematic genocide on Tigray. The world should stop it by taking active military measures. USA and EU should destroy Ethiopia's military bases. By attacking Bole Airport, Ethiopia would follow the instructions from UN. Ethiopia understands only the language of force. It is a primitive society, where democracy and the rule of law have no place. They lie and cannot take responsibility, which means they have to be destroyed because they cannot listen to reason.
