Egypt’s Sisi, CIA Director William Burns hold talks in Cairo - Egypt Independent


Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks with the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns on Sunday, in the presence of the head of Egyptian General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel and the US ambassador to Cairo Jonathan Cohen.

Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the meeting discussed ways to enhance security and intelligence cooperation on various related issues.

The meeting also shared views regarding developments on regional issues of common interest, such as tensions in the eastern Mediterranean and Afghanistan, as well as developments in Palestine, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and Libya.

Sisi stressed that Egypt attaches great importance towards strengthening solid cooperation between the two countries in light of the spread of the threat of terrorism and extremism.

Burns expressed his country’s pride in the constructive cooperation and close relations between with Egypt.

He stressed the US’s keenness on continuous coordination with Egypt regarding various challenges, especially in light of developments in the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the African continent.

Burns also valued President Sisi’s leadership in his efforts to strengthen the region’s security, asserting Egypt’s place as a pillar upholding regional stability.

I am sure the two people talked about a lot of issues .....

The most agenda has to be about possible terrorist attacks on or around 9/11, particularly the take over of Afghanistan by a collection of Islamist groups. .... and others

1. In light of the Afghanistan debacle, US needs to test the stability of the Al-Sisi regime. The same with impact of Saudi regime.
2. Tunisia is in a political crisis
3. Egypt, France and Turkey are in struggle over Libya
4. Sudan is in crisis under a threat of military rule
5. of course, there is Ethiopia, the Horn and the Red Sea.
