People are not following the debates because they know the election is not what people expected it to be 3, 2 or even 1 years ago. Abiy has removed the real competitors such as Jawar, Bekele Geriba, TPLF's Federalist Forces, Lidetu's Abronet coalition of parties, the OLF, OFECO and the charming professor etc etc. This election is የተበላ ዕቁብ similar to Mengistus or PM Desalegn's election. This election is just a competition of President Isiaias's two horses - PP and Ezema. Ezema is playing the ኣጃቢ ajabi role with zero chance of winning but Ginbot 7 and their media Esat have already agreed Abiy to rule for the next 5 years.

It is still the most free, fair and competitive election in the history of Ethiopia. That is a fact. PP of course will win the federal government but it is not sure who will win Addis Ababa for example or even Amhara region etc. Such uncertainty was unknown before. We have now so many free and live debates, election campaigns, fair share of media air time and most of all one of the most impartial and independent election board Ethiopia ever had.

Yes, I agree it is not perfect yet but it is hands down the best so far. No one can deny this fact. Hopefully we will have even a better election in 5 years. Democracy is a process and the government has shown its dedication for democracy more than any previous government. We have to aim to have a fully democratic election in 5 to 10 years. That is a huge accomplishment and we are on the right track.

Comparing the current election process with the old TPLF 100% sham elections or even with Mengistu is pathetic and laughable. We ain't fools man. This is the best so far and we are lucky to be alive and witness.

Temari; I really disagree having election at this time and moment. The sh!t will explode. I wish Abiy will extend at least for a year till the country stabilizes. I can understand the pressure but the country must come first.

I really don't think this will explode. Yes if OLF or Jawar/OFC were part of the election that could happen but now I don't think so. The only one to watch is ABN if it can accept 2nd place or not. Other than that I don't see any explosion.

You cannot put the most competitive and PP of course will win in one sentence predicting PP winning with such certainty. That's why it is called የተበላ ዕቁብ and PM Abiy's talk of getting power through ballot is lie as there's zero chance of getting the power of leading Ethiopa through ballot as you have admitted in the above sentence "Abiy will win of course". I think I should have said you predicted but it wasn't a prediction but a statement of truth.

We couldn't even breath in public during Meles let alone to openly criticize the government (except for few teletafi "oppositions").
The atmosphere was that of fear - fear of brutal torture, jailing and killing.
We lived in an absolute fear during Meles.

Now we feel free for the first time in our history.
We can discuss politics freely in cafes and on TV without fear.
No fear of being tortured or brutality in jails. Just enjoying free air.

PP will win this election not because of vote rigging like the TPLF used to do (100%) but because of the organizational weakness of the opposition but in the next election in 5 years PP will have fierce competition. We are way better in terms of democracy, freedom and free election.

Fixed! This is how we see it
