Re: G-7 Nations Call for Swift Withdrawal of Eritrean Troops From Tigray
Ethio-Eri-Somalia have a military pact and are working towards integrating the two countries albeit in an unorthodox, unseen before integration methodologies. All indications point to the fact that the two countries are working hard to establish legal ways for eritrea's troops stay in ethiopia indefinitely. In lieu of these facts, G7s declaration seems to be off the mark.
BTW, if military sanctions happen, does it fall on all military pact countries?

Mr. gearhead,
Then, why all the fuss about Dina Mufti?

Re: G-7 Nations Call for Swift Withdrawal of Eritrean Troops From Tigray
Mufti's statement is irrelevant to the reality. I believe the statement was an intentional psychological jolt to prime the eritrean rank-and-file to what is to come. You feel the other way and that is okay. Since he apologized, the official position supports you.
The fact on the ground is that the military pact IS signed and the unorthodox integration IS pursued; both eth and eri media have reported of these events in an affirmative fashion!
Combine the pact and the unholy integration, the cumulative effect of these two events will render a legal path for an indefinite stay of eritrean troops in ethiopia! That being the case, G-7s declaration is made without being cognizant and/or digesting the legal ramifications of the signed military pact and the unholy integrative path.
That being the case...such is my query,
1) If military sanctions come as a result of 'proven' human rights violations and war crimes, then would it have to hit all three military pact countries?
2) If economic sanctions follow, would it be imposed on both integrating countries as such because a sanction on the smaller parasitic economy wouldnt have any effect?
G7 statement is toothless! ኒግሮ Issayas knows it too well that this is a white men's way of actionless piety!

Do you remember how Meles Zenawi was always under their foot at every summit of the body, as a good obedient and good house neg*roo, with his hard accent englich, at the end of the summit they always promised him to give some coins and he kissed their feet for that and flew home after wards.gearhead wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 12:12Ethio-Eri-Somalia have a military pact and are working towards integrating the two countries albeit in an unorthodox, unseen before integration methodologies. They missed him now and have to condemn the current administration for not being a good replacement of Meles.
The statement says simpy, where is our servant that we used to recieve from Ethiopia?
Anyhow how is an exclusive club feeling itself entitled to interfere in the internal affairs of others? Is there any legal basis for that?
Yesterday they brought in BBC a video they claimed to have obtained last month and today G-7, under the chair of GB condemning a soverign state and openly showing its interference in the internal affairs of a third country.

G7 Foreign Ministers’ statement on the situation in Tigray, Ethiopia (2 April 2021)
We, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union are strongly concerned about recent reports on human rights violations and abuses, and violations of international humanitarian law in Tigray.
We condemn the killing of civilians, sexual and gender based violence, indiscriminate shelling and the forced displacement of residents of Tigray and Eritrean refugees. All parties must exercise utmost restraint, ensure the protection of civilians and respect human rights and international law.
We recognize recent commitments made by the Government of Ethiopia to hold accountable those responsible for such abuses and look forward to seeing these commitments implemented. We note that the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have agreed to conduct a joint investigation into the human rights abuses committed by all parties in the context of the Tigray conflict. It is essential that there is an independent, transparent and impartial investigation into the crimes reported and that those responsible for these human rights abuses are held to account.
We urge parties to the conflict to provide immediate, unhindered humanitarian access. We are concerned about worsening food insecurity, with emergency conditions prevailing across extensive areas of central and eastern Tigray.
We welcome the recent announcement from Prime Minister Abiy that Eritrean forces will withdraw from Tigray. This process must be swift, unconditional and verifiable.
We call for the end of violence and the establishment of a clear inclusive political process that is acceptable to all Ethiopians, including those in Tigray and which leads to credible elections and a wider national reconciliation process.
We the G7 members stand ready to support humanitarian efforts and investigations into human rights abuses.

An attempt to revive the recent debacle at UNSC? Why did it fail at the UNSC floor and now trying to get through at the sub-set level? Which is a higher instance of the two?AbebeB wrote: ↑02 Apr 2021, 16:36G7 Foreign Ministers’ statement on the situation in Tigray, Ethiopia (2 April 2021)

No question about it. It shouldn't be a problem imposing arms embargo as long as the UNSC approves it. The arms are being used against their own people and not to defend themselves from external enemies anyway. That being the case...such is my query,
1) If military sanctions come as a result of 'proven' human rights violations and war crimes, then would it have to hit all three military pact countries?
That is not too difficult to do without UNSC approval. Each major country can take measures that could force these countries to change course. Especially Ethiopia and Somalia who need all aid they can get. Eritrea's tyrant could care less about how that affects the people.2) If economic sanctions follow, would it be imposed on both integrating countries as such because a sanction on the smaller parasitic economy wouldnt have any effect?

The tyrant makes money through illicit business and contraband activities anyway and has absolute control over the society, but the people will suffer.
