This morning, boxing great Marvelous Marvin Hagler died at the age of 66 at his home in Bartlett, New Hampshire. The announcement was made by his wife Kay Hagler on Facebook; she noted that Mr. Hagler passed away unexpectedly and asked for the family’s privacy to be respected. He is survived by his wife, five children and countless number of people whom he touched throughout his life. Born in Newark, NJ, raised in Brockton MA, Mr. Hagler is a testament of grit and resilience that witnessed a scrappy kid grow up to become a world class boxing champion.
I struggled with whether or not I should write this article; I wanted to honor the wishes of Mr. Hagler’s wife above all things while wanting to pay tribute to an International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee and a pugilist who is credited with one of the best knockout percentages of all time. However, after much consideration, and after seeing how mainstream media was reporting his death without alluding to what is most likely the cause of death, prodded me to grudgingly pen this missive to at once celebrate his life, mourn his loss and highlight a growing public health crisis that is being suppressed by opinion leaders in every major institution of note.,,,continued...
