ትኩረትና ፍቅር ~ ታማኝንና መሰሎቹን ልንደግፋቸው ይገባል

These days I hear certain Tigrian/ Ethiopian activists like Alula Solomon/ TMH and Tedros Tsegaye/ Reyot speaking very strongly against elders who are working for reconciliation and celebrities who are working to raise funds to help affected people.

They argue the likes of Haile and Tamagn had supported the war and they have no right to help. I believe this is wrong. Haile, Tamagn and their Teams never intended for any atrocities against people. They have every right to support their people and no activist has the moral ground to say no. This is not politics but social and humanitarian gesture and should be encouraged universally regardless of their political affiliations.

Aregahegn Werash should join them. He was attacked a while back for trying to help Ethiopian refugees in Sudan. That was wrong and he should have been applauded but politics was too much for humanity to prevail at the time. Now that Tamagn is doing it, we should all welcome it.

Alula has no moral telling Ethiopians not to help. If they supported the war, it’s against a party, not against people. I’m not saying they were right or wrong supporting the war. I’m saying they are right in doing fundraising to help the people.

Let’s leave it up to the victims to decide if they accept the support or not. President Sahle’s gift was rejected by women victims because she failed to speak up for the victims. She is responding and speaking up now. Kudos to her for adjusting. Activists have no right to reject the support of Ethiopians to fellow Ethiopians.

The first time I agree with you fully. We Ethiopians were all supporting the war after TPLF attacked the northern command and bragged about it on Dimitsi Woyane but when it comes to helping the poor people of Tigray, I too have already donated and believe we all have to do everything we can to help the needy. The so called diaspora Tigray activists have no moral ground to prevent Ethiopians from helping tigreans while they refused to send the money they collected. Besides, if supporting the war excludes someone from helping the needy then how about the aid that is coming from the federal government? Anyway, this is pure humanitarian undertaking that is solely targeting the most vulnerable, the mothers and the children who need it the most. It has nothing to do with politics. We all have to join and unite on this one, at least on this one.
